Does 24OZ on the fabric sound right?
Yes, it's 24oz for sure. 18 before waxing. It's quite thick.
@hm1944 I currently wear an XXL Long. I used to have an XL Long but sold it because it was too tight in the shoulders and not really comfortable to wear. It takes a while for the fabric to settle and drape so maybe just wear it for a while?
Thank you Palmer. I think in my head I expected maybe more body fit like it is with IH Type III jackets, but this type of jacket has another philosophy (working chore jacket). I am just thinking loud and yes this jacket is very well built and robust. Will start wearing and see how it developes.
Some people are able to get away with sizing down and having a type 3 rock 'n' roll fit (Dean Del Ray) but if you have a broad chest and shoulders I say just embrace the chore coat fit! You can look back in this thread to see my smaller sized fits but eventually I came to a sad realization that a size down was just too small for me. I'm so thankful to have been able to get a larger size with the new ordering system.
Here's me in my XXL Long about a month ago.

That’s also what I would recommend… wear it as much as possible. It’s rather stiff and boxy in the beginning but starts to conform to your body shape as well as it develops folds, rolls and wrinkles at the right places.
Plus you have enough room for layering with UHFs and IHW-01s... -
Guess I have to be quicker on the draw next month.

Has anyone here ordered the brown wills?? Looks like it’s gonna be Ace!

I finally got a wills this month and went for the brown, but now I’m wondering whether I should have ordered xl instead of large. I have an xl ramblin which is large around the belly/ waist and talking to them they are saying the wills and ramblin are pretty much the same in dimesnsions. I’m about 185cm and 91/92kgs so hoping I can get away with the large or need to tell them soon - any advice from anyone who goes between large/xl with them? I’m a xxl in ironheart uhf and a large in a dehen crissman for comparison. Thanks in advance for any advice

Bear with me
I have the Kuroki mills denim Wills in a medium. When I first got it, the sleeves were really long, I had to cuff them for the jacket to work. Over time, the creases in the sleeves shortened them a bit. And then, after finally washing it, the sleeves shrank enough that I didn't have to cuff them.
So, when I ordered my waxed Wills, I went with the same size: medium. Here's the problem that I encountered. I rarely wear the waxed Wills over a T shirt. Not sure about the rest of you. It just doesn't feel like an over-a-T type jacket. Whereas I almost always wore the denim Wills over only a T shirt.
In short, I sized my waxed Wills like my denim Wills but wished I would've sized up because unlike the denim Wills, I almost entirely use the waxed Wills for layering.
That said, I'm not sure that the large waxed Wills will fit right. Hopefully will know in about a month. Guessing it will.

Reckon I’m the same size as you… I have an L ramblin... quite fitted an great with a thin layer or two under. I’ve gone for an XL in the wills as I figure I’ll want to layer with thicker items... I guess it depends on what you are going to wear under it?

Thanks everyone - have gone with the xl based on feedback as guess I will layer more!

Yep! Mine feels a bit long but it’s pretty comfy day one. Gonna trash it out in the yard today then give it a hot wash and probably dry it too

@Paul9221 At the bottom of all your posts it says “Blanket line all the things” When I got my jacket I messaged Ship John saying… Thanks,I love it and if you flannel/blanket lined one of these people would loose their minds.
Jett, I saw this and immediately thought of you:
Sorry for the way late reply but do we know who did the blanket lining? I have a Wills that I had a tailor bring in on the sides. It improved the fit but the finishing isn't as clean as it was from the factory. I've always thought blanket lining it would be a great way to cover up the seam and also provide a lot more warmth.
Edit: appears maybe it's factory my apologies. Would still love to know if anyone else provides the service.

I guess the 4th times a charm. Got a wills coming my way finally. Just in time for summer

Lucky you.
I had the jacket in my basket and filled out my delivery address, went to payment and the basket was empty and 'Sold out'.
Peed off…. been up since 5am for work and have waited until midnight (UK time) to buy one.

I was giving the blue a really hard look, but ended up with the regular tan. It held a slight edge over the blue.
Its also my first ship john purchase

The blue is super cool! I saw it in person the other day when I picked up a GB axe.
