IH-888S-RE - 14.7oz Eco Selvedge Denim Medium/High Rise Tapered Cut
-
I’m so curious how these will fade over the long haul. Another poster stated that they felt great right off the bat, but do any owners notice a difference in softness with the Eco denim vs. the non recycled jeans. Correct me if I’m wrong, but wouldn’t the shorter recycled fibers make these less soft and comfortable?

I cant speak to the long term fading but mine are already showing off some beautiful electric blues. They are plenty soft and very comfortable [emoji106]

Received a pair of tag size 33 yesterday. As this cut is an unknown quantity to me, especially the high rise, my size selection was a bit of a shot in the dark. Every dimension is pretty much spot on for me, except for the waist which is causing concern. I never felt I had a fat gut, but these jeans are making me reconsider! The top button does up quite easily, but it’s causing a bit of belly and love handle overhang. Beautiful! It’s not loads, and isn’t noticeable under a T-shirt (I believe)
I’m anticipating about an inch of stretch to the material, which would definitely make them fit better around the waist. I don’t think the slight overhang will be completely gone tho. If I were to size up (which isn’t possible as 34 is out of stock) I think the other dimensions would be less favourable.
So, my question for guys who own this cut but maybe have a bit of excess padding around the gut, how do you size this area? Is this cut only for guys with rock-hard stomachs?
I can (reluctantly) post photos of the fit around my gut if needed

I think you just need to allow for some stretch and get used to the higher rise.

Yeah, what he said.

That looks exactly as it should. Wear them in and you‘ll be golden.
Two things will happen, not only will the waist stretch, lessening the tight waistband, but the front of the top block will crease and bunch (in a good way) causing them jeans to sit slightly lower.
For me this is a very good starting fit for the 888 and what I’d be aiming for on a new pair.

Thanks for the helpful responses guys. @neph93 , you’ve convinced me to keep them and see how they settle in. Not that I needed too much convincing as I bloody love the fabric. Also, the reasonable price plus a gift voucher I’d forgotten about made these an absolute steal, so I really wanted them to work! Once these get beaten up I’ll post some more pics, and will branch out into more IH denims. Into the wormhole I go…

Im the king of slow fades but my pair is finally starting to show some change. This denim molds really well despite being such a light weight so I might get some decent combs which I never seem to get. I’m pretty excited to see them by the end of spring.

Worn all summer, have had these since they came out (18 mo?). 5-7 washes, I don’t track these things. Time to give these a break and move on to the XHSIB.
Pics are on previous page.

They look great. Btw we have the same Pendleton and jeans so I thought for a second that those were my pics. I think I’m working too much [emoji6]

Both your posts make me very pleased I grabbed these jeans. I’ve been wearing mine constantly for the last couple of weeks and there’s already this nice hint of high-contrast blue showing in some areas. The rise also causes lots of creasing around the upper thighs. I can just tell the whiskers will look amazing a year from now.
@tvenuto your photos look like they’re fading almost to a kind of silvery grey. I hope this is a realistic representation and I’m looking forward for mine to evolve like yours. -
Took a trip down to Gosport today and picked up a pair of these.
Sized down 2 sizes to a size 30. Bit snug but can already feel them relaxing.
Great to see everyone. Big thanks to @Chesson for helping me decide on these.

Absolute pleasure @spitfiredealer
I give them three months before you decide they need a run in the day job
-
Ha 3 months would be nearly spring time so some lighter weight denim could well be needed at work!

They look good on you. I went TTS as I was unfamiliar with the cut but I’ll def size down next time.
