If you're the type that believes rumors, the primary upgrade is the high res display. Something like 2048 x 1536. And a faster processor.
They're moving toward it being a content creation device rather than just a consumption device.
Newest rumors also suggest a smaller 7.5 inch version to compete with the Kindle Fire. I'm calling BS on that, though.

There'll always be a new model on the horizon, so if you're happy with the current spec, buy one, if you're not, wait it out and see what the new one has to offer. I still like my iPad 1, if that helps at all.

I'm thinking of maybe getting a 4S soon. I was one of the nerds who lined up and got the first iPhone the day it came out but since then went another direction. I love my HTC Thunderbolt on Verizon but the lack of global capability makes no sense for me, and the loaner program is a drag. Doug/Gimpkid I see you both used the element vapor cases - any issues with getting car connecting kits or other cables in there? I know that it doesn't work with most docks but I guess a dock extender should deal with that. They do look like very cool cases…
Sorry for the late response on this, the last couple weeks have been God awful at work
Zero issues with cables. No issues with headphones, although lately I've switched to bluetooth headphones at the gym. It's very convenient to leave my phone at the bottom of my gym bag and not worry about cables. I use bluetooth speakers at home and at work. For reference, i use the LG Tone headphones and the Monster iClarityHD speakers. I highly recommend both of them
As for cables, AmazonBasics makes a fantastic aftermarket cable for less than $10 bucks. It's more durable than the Apple ones, and infinitely better than knockoffs
Currently rocking a Vapor Pro Stealth case and the Vapor Comp is collecting dust

I think I'm gonna wait on the 3..
Jody offered to buy me an iPad for Christmas this year, but I'm holding out for the 3
Main uses will be surfing the web and playing video games. I'm actually thoroughly impressed with the iP4S for gaming. It's replaced my Sony PSP when I'm on travel

I've just ordered the vapor pro stealth, it looks excellent!

The best iPhone dock ever. And the first kickstarter project I've backed.

You might want to take note how the carbon fiber backplate affects your signal. I leave mine off because the CF messes with my WiFi signal. CF is documented to block RF and WiFi
I use a skin from The Lucky Labs in it's place. I like it better anyhow

FYI: http://9to5mac.com/2011/12/16/with-40-and-5-minutes-you-can-make-your-iphones-apple-logo-glow/
It's only going to be on sale for another day or so. Ordered mine last night

Cheers! I actually tried to buy one of their black/grey digi camo skins for this as well, but they were out of stock. I'll give it a go anyway until I get a replacement skin.

Ok folks, I'm on the horns of a dilemma. I'm going to get the MacBook Air, but I'm torn between the 11" and 13" models. Portability vs. screen size for three day trips to London. Mainly it'll be for using Word, Internet and maybe some VPN remote desktop action in the hotels to access shared files. Any thoughts?
-
Go 13. I have owned both and the extra 2 inches is not noticed when it comes to the "portability" category but IS noticable in the "screen size'' category. Hopefully that makes as much sense to you as it does in my head. Basically what im saying is you are not going to carry around the 11 and go "Man, this sure is portable!" than carry around the 13 and say "this thing is just way to bulky…". But when it comes to usable screen size, you WILL like the extra 2 inches of the 13...
-
Agreed with mike. It's not necessarily the physical size but the resolution that comes with it. The 11 inch sports a 1366 by 768 pixel display while the 13 gives you 1440 by 900. It may not seem like a big difference but the extra real estate gives you some breathing room, especially for that occasional RDP session.

Thanks guys! Really useful to get some input from people who are already using it. Now all I have to do is will myself to spend the money!

And the Element Pro Stealth arrived. $15 postage and it came in three days from the USA via FedEx. Can't complain at that.

Went to the Apple store today on the way to my train, but chickened out of buying the MBA. Next week though, for sure!
