IH-555S-21od - 21oz Selvedge Denim Super Slim Jeans - Indigo Overdyed Black
-
The crew used black on black for my chainstitched hem 888 OD 21, there’s a top thread and a bottom thread so both are options. I’ve seen great looking examples of both. Yellow will be highlighted at the start but then match the other stitching (which is yellow but takes a bit of the overdye since it is poly/cotton) with time, while black is tonal at the beginning but will show once the denim starts to fade (blueish/greyish fabric with black stitching could look great I think, not unlike the blue on light blue on the 777’s or the new 19oz indigo black?). I chose the black to have both happening on one pair.

I've just remembered, we have a cone of this, for the more "adventurous" amongst you. Usually just used as the bobbin thread….
That could be fun on my next pair… trying to decide between 888s or 888xhs

Ah. Thinking of getting a pair of these. I have a pair of 555 -03 tag size 33, which fit really well both pre and post initial soak (but I’ve yet to wash them…), so wondering if I should get the 33 or the 34 in these, given there’s no shrinkage expected. I’ve a pair of 777 -14 tag 33, but I’m losing patience with them because even a year in, and two washes, the top block is too tight. Just put them on after the second wash and grrrrrrr...... LOL. I guess it’s the top block with me. Maybe I should wait for the 666S 21? Any advice welcome. Thanks.

The 777 does have a trimmer top block than the 555. I’m afraid the top block in the 666 is also quite close fitting. Maybe stick to the 555, and have a look at the 888?
Thanks. Meant to post this in the 555 01 thread, not this one. Sorry. Can you edit this? Guess measurements are the same, however.

Not quite. These start of life as the IH-555S-21 but they are garment dyed (dyed as finished garments). The overdying process is quite dramatic and shrinks a fabric that is otherwise very difficult to shrink. The OD versions of 21oz jeans are typically around 5% smaller than the indigo originals. They do stretch more readily however.

Is this the same OD as ISH-178? So it'd be a similar kind of fade?
-
@Kingmob31 what @Jett129 said. When overdying IH take a finished garment and infuses it with black sulphur dye. The difference in base denim means there will be some difference in fading. For example the 19oz IH-526L-OD type III fades quickly from black to greyish white, because the original denim loses indigo in areas of high abrasion quite quickly. Both dyes come out together. The 21oz denim is a stubborn fader so while the black sulphur fades quickly more of the indigo is retained. The result is a blue/black effect before whiter areas start peaking through

any chance of restock soon?
would love a pair of these beauties. they would be my first IH jeans -
super, thanks! still thinking between them and same 21oz od on 666
either will be great i think! -
Wow !! Idon't know if I can resist these.
I'd love to see some fade pics of some pairs.
Have a pair of 634 OD, and the fabric is like velvet and just now finally showing that bluish black coloring the thighs.
The other problem would be I probably would wear these more than the 634's (a more relaxed fit) once I get them, and my poor 634's that are just starting to look incredible wouldd sit neglected lol
anyways, cheers ya'll, it'll be a tough decision also as I have yet to have the classic 21 oz indigo in the 555, my fave fit, I have the 25oz though in the 25oz ib…
thanks
