IHJ-81 - 17oz Cotton Duck Work Jacket - Brown
-
Large was perfect over 1 or two layers for me, a lot less boxy and a great fit over say a Carhartt Detroit jacket.
If I was to wear this with over a tee/shirt and then a big sweat or hoodie, I may consider an XL but for day to day wear Large was pretty perfect. If you would like a shot of me in an XL just give us a shout.
Cheers!
Thanks, Graham [emoji106] The chest measurements throw me off. I’m used to wearing UHF’s with a 22”-22.5” chest so seeing the 81 with a slightly smaller chest measurement seemed weird. I’m assuming the bi-swing shoulders give the jacket a little more room than the measurements suggest?

^ Definitely, in my experience.
@Graham I would certainly like to see what an XL looks like on you, perhaps with a sweatshirt underneath? Thanks, mate.

Oh F' me… I love this jacket. To me this is reminiscent of the Carhartt Detroit jacket, one of my favorites of all time and doesn't get the love it should. While I love all historical denim jacket designs, Type I, II, II, 101J, etc., I really like the simplicity and basic functionality of this design. No pleats, no excessive decorative seams, functional pockets where you need them. This style of jacket in brown duck goes with anything. The only thing I see as superfluous is the button tab at the bottom hem, but that seems to be an IH thing with zippered jackets.
Note I - a blanket lined version, with a generous zippered internal pocket, for colder months would kill.
Note II - @Giles @Alex & IHUK crew - the product description says this jacket is inspired by the Lee 101J. Is that correct? I don't see any resemblance…

Would you say the xl fits baggy on you or is there no noticeable difference between it and the large? I'm assuming there's a little more room to fit a uhf underneath? The only difference that I can see is slightly longer sleeves but the rest of it looks fine

I do like both sizes tbh but I lean towards the L over the XL.

Definitely baggy on him. The XL over a T would look like a $400 Detroit, IMHO. The Large looks better on him for a 'light' duty jacket. (To each their own, obviously.)

It is of course a riding thing. It is their so one can tighten the hem to prevent wind coming in. It's on the type III's as well as a lot of the heavier vests.

I could be wrong, but I think he’s referring to the button in the front underneath the zipper.
Yes, that's what I'm referring to… although I'd prefer no tab, it's not a deal breaker. Unfortunately no immediate plans to cop this awesome piece.

Waffled a bit about sizing, glad I took a shot. One of my favorite jackets is an ancient Carhartt, this is a worthy replacement.

It’s going to be a fantastic jacket @steelworker. Looking forward to fit pics.
