My new favorite rugged wear has arrived. The body armor is soaking as I type…
Here's an update on what's been done thus far, this is my first unsanforized experience:
-Soaked in "hot" water in the washing machine basin, lid closed, from 6PM-9AM MST this morning. With hand agitation four times during the first soak.
-Switched water and soaked again on the "hot" setting...Still soaking at 10:51 AM (1h 45min so far)
Question: I am thinking about wearing the jeans while slightly damp until they dry. Is this recommended or does it affect how much they ultimately shrink (less/more)? And how damp should they be before I put them on?
Pre-soak Measurements:
-waist: 28"
-thigh: 11.9"
-knee: 9"
-opening: 8.6
-rise: 10
-inseam: 35There was still an inch of room in the waist. There are four silver buttons on the fly, so the rise actually feels quite high.

You've soaked it for 16 fecking hours?.. If there's still an inch left in the waist after 16 fecking hours I def wouldn't wear them damp as that's a method to stretch jeans… Although if they're a bit big, they shouldn't stretch unless you do squats and such...
But seriously: 16 hours??? Where the hell did you come up with that idea?..

Well the info on this thread calls for an overnight soak: To me that's 8-12 hours. I needed to shrink the waist and every other measurement significantly since I'm a 27" waist, so I went for 15.
I checked them in the morning and went with another hot soak, per the instructions on this forum, for 2.5 hours.
I took them out 11:30AM MST for a total of 17.5 hours. I have read here that you should soak your jeans until you remember that they're there, and then soak them again, so I do not find my attempt unreasonable, but of course we will see
They are drying in the sun, will post updates shortly. Thanks for the comments!

Tried them on while damp…Almost perfect in the waist, just able to button the top. Amazing shrink action in all dimensions. Gonna let dry another hour. I worked the leg seams while wet to counter-act the leg skew, and they have remained straight so far. The humidity in Albuquerque is 25% right now so they dry super quick. Will put on and wear around after that, updates coming...
