Isn’t Iron Heart motorcycle centric?

Very strange I thought Iron Heart was already motorcycle centric

Stretch denim from Iron Heart? My be practical but I don’t know anyone including me who wears stretch pants. It may be practical but when has ridding motorcycles been anything considered practical I be seen the inside of many ICU’s Don’t get me wrong I’m a hardcore fan of Iron Heart I have spent about $8000 on Iron Heart won’t ride my bike without it. But this seams a little odd from a company that has “Motorcycle Specialties” in there name. I don’t mean to be a dick here but just wondering out loud

@sabergirl you are correct no denim is gonna save your skin in a wreck I’ve personally tested that!! 19oz HeftyLefty, 21/23oz UHR the pavement won. What I’ve always loved about IH is the garments are designed by riders for riders. Most shirts and jackets when you are sitting on you bike with your hands on the bars ride up till they are a 3/4 sleeve not so with IH they fit to your wrists and don’t flap in the breeze cause they aren’t all baggy. But the heavy weight denim does protect a lot of the wind and rocks kicked up. I understand they are trying to expand there sales to new markets. I just old and cranky and don’t want IH to morf in to a skinny jean fashion brand!!! 634 forever forever 634

If IH didn’t try new stuff they’d wither and die, then bye bye. You don’t have to like everything they put out but you also can’t realistically expect them to be a one size fits all brand either. There are quite a few denim cuts that would not work for my frame, so the fact that IH has slimmer fits is great.
Also, I’m not a motorcyclist and I suspect the majority of people on this forum are not either. That’s the great thing about this brand— they appeal to a large cross section of consumers who are just as picky about clothing details as the motorcyclists who buy IH.

And FWIW, the IH Ignition stuff was developed by Haraki san for Ken’s Factory, so there must’ve been demand for it, or they were looking to try something new. I think it’s interesting but I’m not sure stretch denim is for me. Never say never though

This is the key- Ignition is a separate entity. Iron Heart will continue to be what it is. Ignition was always intended to be something different. If that’s not your thing, then that’s cool. Maybe, as more products roll out, you’ll be pleasantly surprised and find there are things you like. Maybe not. But regardless of which turns out to be the case, IH will still be around, still making clothes geared toward Japanese bikers, as long as Haraki’s in charge.

Haraki has always had a dream of breaking into the biker market in USA. And, to be perfectly frank, we did not help him achieve that dream, basically because a) I don't know the biker market and b) because Iron Heart clothing clearly has a very broad appeal, and restricting our focus to just one demographic/culture would have restricted our potential.
A couple of years ago Haraki's eldest daughter died of cancer, which naturally made him rethink his life and what he wanted out of it, with a new awareness of what is really important to him. He and his good friend Ken came up with a new brand that would target the new generation of bikers.
Yes, my eyebrows did raise a little when he mentioned stretch denim, but that is because most of us have a perception that stretch denim is a lightweight fabric for "fashionable" clothing like skinny jeans (and other horrible stuff that people with questionable taste wear). The Ignition stretch denim is different, it is heavy and only has 2% stretchy stuff in it. It looks like regular heavy denim, but Haraki says that it has enough stretch to make a difference to comfort when worn on a bike.
Paula and I went to the meeting with Haraki to discuss Ignition with a firm view that we would not get involved, but, after listening to what Haraki had to say and why he was doing it, we came away with a firm decision that we would help him in whatever ways we could to realize this dream. Whether or not we make any money from Ignition is almost irrelevant, personally what we care about most is doing our best to help Haraki with a personal quest. So we hope Ignition Works will be a great success for him and Ken, and are pleased to help with the new brand's promotion.

More IH = more choice and that’s great.

This entire conversation is one of the reasons IH is special! Regardless of individual passion, style, likes, dislikes, people are passionate. Passion sometimes leads to minor disagreement or misunderstanding. Passion also leads to enlightenment, understanding and sometimes a different outlook. I give kudos to both @Crowbar22VFFV and @Giles for being honest and true about things they love and care for. Cheers to what we have here! In IH and this forum!
