thanks for your reply.
but just checked Hamburg web site and seems like they don't have the 721do you have also a recommendation for jeans with blazer
-
@legedema that depends on what exactly you are looking for. In my opinion number one priority is fit, so try to get that right first. In general, your denim will fade over time but they all start in a fairly uniform colour. If you do get the opportunity to visit the Hamburg store have a look at the different denim weights and cuts on offer and see what works for you.
Also check out the cuts and the denims on the Iron Heart website

Super Black Non Fade is my recommendation then. In Hamburg represented as 777, 666 and 634 (Edit: Just seen they are sold out).
Black/Black 14oz perhaps.
The 777 and 634 are available in Hamburg. -
Does anyone have experience with getting more than 1 inch (let's say 1.5 inches) of stretch out of 21oz superblack non-fade in the waist? I feel that's fairly easily done on regular/OD pairs, but can't find much definitive about superblack non-fade. Not necessarily looking for methods of getting it there, more wondering if it's in the realm of possibility

@tody said in Random questions to which you seek an answer:
@akohut I have only experience with one pair of 9634, and that feels like it's going nowhere in terms of stretch.
I fully concur with Tody’s info.

@tody @motojobobo the product page says the 888s (and all other superblack non-fades, i believe) are good for an inch. you aren't even getting that?

IH-888S-SB Superblack Non-Fade 21oz Selvedge Denim Medium/High Rise Tapered Cut
I bought these 5 years ago, never measured them, but they seem to fit as snug as ever. I realize it could be argued that my waistline expanded, I’m 60 now, but it hasn’t happened with other IH denim fabrics. I wore them the last two evenings on my current bike trip and I can easily keep them in place without a belt.
So that is my experience. -
Hey, could use some advice on this fit. 888 25 oz, size 31. I usually wear a 30 or 31 in Levis. These just don’t seem to be flattering on my body. Usually I wear a slim taper jean, like the Levi’s 512 or the 3sixteen Narrow taper which is a little too snug. 5’4, Muscley thighs and butt which makes sizing hard!
Thinking I should have gone with a 555 in a 30 waist.
You’ll see these posted in the selling forum. -

@mattbags85 FYI have moved your thread here

@mattbags85 Hey there dude! Here's my take on your fit:
First off, how tight is that waist? To get the best fit with the 888 cut you need to size that waist as tight as possible...it will stretch out in time....but the tightest waist will give the slimmest leg profile. If the waist is as tight as you think you could go, even accounting for future stretch, then the 888 probably won't be for you if you're looking for a slimmer leg.
The 555 is a great cut with a higher rise and comfortable top block. The thigh and knee will be narrower, which looks like what you need to achieve the slimmer look you seem to be going for.
Another thing to consider with the XHS 888 is that the thigh will come in a bit with a wash...My XHS 888s were a bit too wide for my liking when I first got them...but post hem and wash they came in really nicely. But again, if you are looking for a more slim leg, the 555 will do the trick. 555 UHR will be my next pair for that very reason.

@Mizmazzle It is roomy in the waist, to where I can probably pull out the front about 1.5 inches. I went with 31 waist assuming that a 29 or a 30 would be too small after a wash. That might be the mistake. I do think a 29 would be really snug and tough to fasten, but would have stretched. 30 might be the happy spot.
With the 634 in a 30 waist I could barely button up without sucking and some serious pressure in the sensitive bits. That also lead me to a 31, but I think the 634 and the 888 top block are entirely different. The 888 is baggy around the glutes and crotch whereas the 634 is nearly skin tight.
I hope that the 555 is the happy medium for fit and sizing. I am going for a slimmer look, but don’t want to be so restricted in my movement that I can’t crouch down, climb stairs or sit comfortably.
Alas, we live and learn. FOR SALE!! Thanks for the input.

@mattbags85 Also keep in mind that a tag 31 in a 634 won't necessarily have the same waist or thigh measurement as a tag 31 in the 888....its super important to go off the measurement charts for each cut, each tag size, and each new batch that is released.
The XHS will lose .5 or more in the waist with a cold wash and line dry. But will stretch out back out and beyond up to an inch from where it was at when new.
For my 888 XHS i sized them so that I had to suck in my belly a bit to button. They stretched out to perfection super quick.
Many prefer to start in a comfortable spot...but the 888 can be a bit baggy in the thigh and seat to start so I think to get the best fit from the 888 to size down as much as you can.
-
@mattbags85 shout out for the 777. The 555 goes hard from thigh to knee. 777 is the happy medium between the 888 and 555, and benefits from a slightly more more fitted too block than both.

I feel like this has been answered before so apologies, but do we have a way of seeing measurements from previous restocks of a product? So I was comparing a new pair of denim that I'm interested in against one of my best fitting jeans. I just realised that the measurements I'm using are from the most recent restock, not from when I ordered. Is there a way of doing a better comparison? I could measure the pair I have, but they're stretched out so I don't think it'll help.
