IH-888-XHS - 25oz Selvedge Denim Medium/High Rise Tapered Cut Jeans - Indigo
-
Thinking about putting my 555s to bed for a while and going with an 888. Was going to get bibs because I now work remotely and I can legitimately wear whatever everyday but alas they are not in stock. I train legs pretty frequently and while my 555 isn't too tight I probably only have a tiny bit of room in the thigh and I like my room in the thigh because I can actually move. So, I am going to for the 888 but I can't decide which denim except that I probably want some form of XHS or the 21od. I just can't decide.
-
@GardenState i'd go xhs, best denim ever man
-
@Fades-for-future Yeah I really like the fabric on my xhs but in the 555 cut they are pain to take off at times. They seem to fade very well and pretty quickly. I thought about UHR but I hear they aren't as comfortable.

@GardenState I felt the same about XHS in the 555 cut. 888 is eons more comfortable.
-
@GardenState i know what you talking about man, i also got a 555 xhs but don't have any wearing probs or pain, even if they only have 10 wear days or so... Try 888 or maybe a 777 cut?
-
@Oaktavia Awesome! I was, like many of you, obsessed with having the slimmest jeans a few years ago and because of that a few pairs of really cool fabric I've let go or just don't wear. I have a pair of No-Lots that I have to post for sale. Waiting on Josh to get back to me and then I'll pull the trigger. Here is to hope something falls into the perfect dimensions.
P.S. I'm getting old so comfort is king
-
My pair just arrived and they're already in the hot soak. Initially tried them on and they fit a lot wider than the 555 SBGs I have but I'm sure they will shrink in a few spots and the fit will be awesome!
-
@GardenState They'll be better after a soak, but won't fit like a 555. The 888 cut is perfect for XHS in my opinion.
-
@Oaktavia Yeah my 555 xhs fit me but they are so much tougher to put on then my 555 sbg. The extra weight of the denim in such a slim cut just wasn't for me. I like to be outdoors and do things so moving is important!
Thanks for your insight I think I'll enjoy these especially in the winter months that are coming.
Oh and how long did you soak yours for?
-
@GardenState I game mine a 45 min tepid soak then a cold wash/ line dry and the fit went from baggy to perfection.
-
@Mizmazzle Okay, so mine were in for over an hour because I forgot them kind of
So, they're probably good
-
@GardenState oh yeah man. I don’t think how long you soak them makes much of a difference after 30-45 min if the water isn’t super hot the whole time.
I generally soak mine for at least 30 min before a wash to avoid marbling. But XHS doesn’t really suffer that problem the way the black denims do.
-
@Mizmazzle Okay, yeah I don't think I'm running them through the washer because mine is a top loader and it always spins
-
@GardenState I use a top loader too. I put it on low spin (lowest setting on my machine) and stand at the ready for when it beeps and pull em straight out.
But we all have our ways so no doubt yours will be dope AF when you pull em up on your legs.
Stoked to check your fit pics!
-
@Mizmazzle Do you do that just for the agitation essentially?
-
@GardenState Yup! That agitation gets the max shrink out.
I like to give my jeans a full bore wash cycle right off the bat in the same style I plan to wash in the future so that I feel comfortable with any shrink I may get. Especially since I like to hem my jeans. Then after that first wash I rage em for like 6 months until the next wash for more high contrast fades. Again, just my method. But I like to make sure the shrink is set for how I plan to wash in the future as well as any alterations in length I make.
-
@Mizmazzle Post soak fit. A little wet still but when they're dry I'll fix the cuffs and such
-
@GardenState Nice man! How you feeling about them?
I didn't notice any presoak fit pics to compare.
Def let em dry all the way before wearing so as to avoid knee bags. I had this happen with the elbows of a jacket before...no biggie if it happens, just another soak to get the fabric back to where it belongs. -
@Mizmazzle I forgot to take a presoak fit pic. I might throw them through the washing machine to make sure I got all the shrink out! They're definitely more roomy in the calf but I like how they fit. I feel like they look baggier when you're looking down at your legs then they do in the mirror
-
@GardenState a lot of that bagginess will take a better form after you either hem or get the cuffs how you want them.
I do think you would benefit from a wash with agitation...looks like you have plenty of thigh room to work with. How's the waist? Do you have room to shrink it a bit and still get them buttoned? If so, id say def throw em in for wash with agitation. I like my waist to be a little on the uncomfortable side at first (I had to suck my stomach in a bit on the first wear with mine) I got a perfect fit this way. They stretch out fast. But again, that's just my preference. Many others like a looser fit right from the start.
Don't worry about washing a couple times early on. It's not going to impact your fade potential or anything.
