IH-666-XHS - 25oz Selvedge Denim Slim Straight Cut Jeans - Indigo
-
yawn, damn it's early. . . rough & fast fit pics from last night/this morning:
waist 36 shortened to 31
-
thanks mank.
i'm not
how could they
serious bigger folks nervous about this cut shouldn't be. they are a well designed jean that imho look great on a wide range of body types. oh & these are just as the original 666s. if you didn't know, they include lined back pockets, reinforced front pockets, belt loops sewn into waist band & that bar tack.
i do notice the higher rise, but it isn't a bad thing & less crack is always good.

monday you legend

I just tried on my 666-XH's and they seem wider cut than their little brothers, especially in the calf. I seem to remember the original 666 had "some" taper. Not this model.
The darkness of this fabric is hypnotizing.
I'm pretty sure the thing is waterproof.
This is going to take a long long time to break in! -
dave, hope i didn't miss this somewhere else in the thread but would you mind sharing what size you went for and how that compares to any previous IH jeans you owned? i really think you have the perfect fit in these, makes me love the 666 cut even more.
Sure, no problem.
I started out with a the TWR01. I loved that fit, but they were a size too small (30) with no hope of stretching to make up that last little bit. I wear them sometimes, but they're kind of tight. I've been searching for another fit that I liked as much as those. I think these 25 oz come close.
After the TWR, I got the 634SR. It's hard to say at this point, but I think I like the feel of that denim better than the 25 oz. The cut was a little sloppy on my body type, but they're comfortable. The SR is still the Holy Grail to me, but we'll see when the 634 RAW comes out
Then I got the 666S (31) and OD (32)–The TWR didn't fit and the SR is obviously too baggy for everything. My knees and lower thighs didn't fit in either very well post soak because of how much I ride my bike, so I started to rip the seams around the crotch within a couple of days (bartack is still intact). They fit great after they stretched and the crotch hasn't gotten any worse despite having worn the shit out of them.
Then came the BB SBG (31). These things fit great, but I don't want to wear black all the time. The knees and lower thigh offered no resistance and the higher rise felt more solid than the 666.
Finally the 666 XHS (31 trimmed to 34L)... My thighs and knees fit perfectly like the SBG, the waist is spot on unlike the TWR (my fault buying the wrong size), the slightly higher rise keeps me from having to pull them up often. The denim is very smooth like the SR and TWR and dark like the TWR, but with a slight reddish tint.
I would say that these fit more like the BB than the 666S. If they were raw, they'd probably feel more like the 666S after seeing some water.
Someone mentioned the denim feeling like a thick sheet of paper. I would say a 2-layer, high quality mat board that bends really well is accurate.
I gave my buddy a scrap piece left over from the hemming and he couldn't rip it. It looked like he tried pretty hard but didn't even tear the first stitch on the selvedge seam.

really helpful dave, thanks. really looking forward to seeing the evolution of these.
the cut of the 25oz 666 almost seems more slim straight (which is my favorite cut).

I got mine in the mail today. The denim is amazing. But cause of my build they are the most awkward fit ever. 301s fit me perfect but tjese just dont taper enough or something so they are super baggy from just above the knee down. Hopefully I can find a shop that can taper them for me. Cause I got them hemmed on purchase and cant return. But amazing jeans none the less.
I'd just wear them for a good month or so and see how they settle down. The bagginess may go and as the jeans mould to your body shape & end up being a great fit. You can always taper later if still not satisfied.

Got mine yesterday. Thanks Giles & Paula. South coast to London in less than 24 hours!!
Love everything about them..the fit is just a tad less slim than the original 666 but still a slick slim fit.
They have a gorgeous sheen/patina that I always miss with unsanforized denim that will just get better with wear and dirt.
Fit pics within days. -
Read the notes on the website.

i do agree they have less taper than the 666s (it also says it on the sizing chart), but with a denim this rigid that really isn't a bad thing. i guess when folks denim settle a bit more we can gauge a bit better. not sure when i'm going to start wearing these as i'm just getting some good action from my original 666s.
anyone starting on these full time?

I was going to just wear them and try and let them settle but thr fit is to awkward to leave the house in. looks like flares.
-
rocky. i can't comment on what to/not to do to your jawns until i see a pic. maybe the flare comes from the jeans being so rigid & not draping to your body?
in any event get us flicks & i'm sure someone will give you a great suggestion on your fit
