Breaking in a pair now. Summer here Down Under. 35c+ humidity gets a bit much but high 20s are ok.
-
@bluemantra i try to wear as long as possible! Mornings are colder so sometimes i wear them till noon and then switch to shorts or so.. ut also wore them in 25 degrees celcius or more! Just do what’s comfortable for you there is no guideline or so
-
if I wore them up to 20/25 degrees I could basically only wear them 10/15 days a year, now in Italy we have 20 degrees in January/February . This summer has been hellish and I'm afraid that the next one will be worse... patience ️, what doesn't kill us strengthens us (that's what I tell myself every time the thermometer exceeds 40 degrees )
-
@Luijim78 hardcore don’t forget to hydrate haha
-
Are the 21oz any more summer temp friendly compared to the XHS?
-
@bluemantra far more! Due the way 21oz has been made it’s quite breathable but the most breathable imo is the slubby denim
-
it stands to ask, @bluemantra, exactly what sort of summer temps are you thinking about? 21 is "better" than 25, but I wouldnt really call either appropriate for 90F, humid, summer days. +1 on the 16oz slubs being the best denim and also a shout out for the 17oz ducks as being good as well.
-
@pechelman I'm in Southern California. Temps where I'm at in summer months are 90+ degrees F with some 100 F days. Debating on 666 in XHS or to get the 21 oz for those summer months.
-
100F even in dry southern California is probably a little too much for me unless I'm sitting in the shade with proximity to a nice ocean breeze. There are people in South East Asia laughing at this comment who wear whatever in ridiculous to me heat and humidity.
I'll add that if you really want 21 or 25 for these temps consider sizing up or going to a 634 cut. The extra width will help circulate air around your legs and keep them from feeling sticky. Also I feel like stacks make this worse as they trap heat, so either hem or cuff them so they hang straight at or above the ankle when standing.

Came here to say exactly this. I hemmed my 634XHS an inch higher too for this exact reason.

I think this is my favorite cut. 555 is the only one I haven’t tried. Thinking of getting a backup pair. Anyone else do this?
-
@bluemantra looking good! And there’s a old phrase going round this place. Rock 1 and stock 1

Since these are advertised as shrinking up to an inch, but stretching back out with wear, what have you guys done about sizing compared to other IH denim. I’m a tag 33 in the 14 and 21 oz pairs, but definitely appreciate the stretch that comes after wearing them.
I wear these with boots also and I’m a 30 or 30.5 inseam. Should I go with a 31 inseam in these?
-
@LawDawgLSU this recommendation around here is to measure a pair you like and buy the size that fits pre-wash as they will shrink and then stretch to pre-wash measurements and not much more beyond that. As for inseam length, I usually just wash them first and then send them back in for a hem. I have a 777-XHS pair I washed and had hemmed to 30.5” and after multiple washes haven’t really changed in length.
-
Thought you might want to see this LawDawg. As long as you know YOUR measurements, the denim will act in pretty predictable ways. I come from a time when sizing down was a norm, but pockets are awesome, so do what thou wilt.

@deadendpro I appreciate you posting that. I’ve also reached the age where comfort trumps fashion
