IH-888-XHSMB - 25oz Selvedge Denim Medium/High Rise Tapered Cut - Mad Black

@Memphisakers you could always put them on damp and see if that helps stretch the waist. I’ve had some success that way. Kinda speeds up the waist stretch I find.
Worst case, you’ve got yourself a pair of stiff leg Frankenstein pants for Halloween.
-
@sabergirl thanks I really liked the fit of the MBs on you from the pic you posted in the thread. I was planning to show my wife that picture hoping she would consider a pair of 888s as her first IH jeans.

Day 2… wish me luck. If the tightness doesn’t get me I’m sure the heat will, suppose to be 98 here today!
Beautiful color on these. They are so inky black. Love it -

They are so inky black.
They are extremely stubborn and will stay that way for a long time. Stoked to see someone else snagged a pair of these. I'll be wearing mine today.

Day 3… I probably made it 4 hours yesterday. Definitely getting some stretch in the waist! It’s slow and they are still mildly uncomfortable but it’s definitely getting better. I actually took them off yesterday because of heat not tightness. Gonna be 100 here again today. I’ll see how long I can make it -
Tried to get some good photos of the fabric. As been said before it’s very hard to capture the color or texture of this fabric. They are both insane! The color I was prepared for, the texture surprised me. Tons of character!! Well done IH
-
@Memphisakers totally agree, such an awesome fabric.
-
I wish they would re run these, I’ve got 2 pairs of them in the 555 cut and the 25oz mad black is epic stuff, in my eyes only second to the 25oz BB…
I had to grab another pair when I out grew my original pair in hindsight I should have sized up anyways. They are basically a full size down

Big props to @Mizmazzle! I took his suggestion of wearing them wet and that really seem to speed things up stretch wise. I didn’t wet the entire pair of jeans. I have gotten knee bags in a couple pair of IH jeans from wearing them wet so I have abandoned that practice… but I did wet the waistband then wear them until dry. That seems to have done the trick!! Appreciate it Miz They are definitely more comfortable today!

@Memphisakers I thought that you didn’t want to wear them wet…

@Memphisakers Here is some data from earlier in the thread for you.

I bought a size 40 pair of these Mad Black jeans right away when they first came out. I noticed that the waist measurement was only 38.2 inches, but I was not concerned, as I have a heavy duty waist expander that works quite well on my Iron Heart jeans. I soaked the new jeans in cold water before using the expander. I was able to stretch the waist more than 2.5 inches wider. These do seem to be softer than my other 25oz IH jeans. I would not describe them as rigid, nor will they stand up on their own. This dark color is currently my most favorite in my IH collection.

@goosehd that kinda helps I guess… I was more curious about the typical type of stretch you get with IH jeans from wearing them tight. I feel like any jeans would stretch wet with a jeans stretcher.
-
@goosehd Mostly I just didn’t want to put a pant stretcher on them. I don’t like to treat my IH gear like that… but as I said in the post I have also had bad experiences wearing jeans wet. It can cause knee bags. Has happened to me more than once. Found a work around

I will add some documentation for anyone interested in the stretch on these.
Waist measurement after first wash 31”
After around 6 hours of very uncomfortable wear mostly sitting/driving 31.75”
After wetting waistband and wearing til dry 33” -
@Memphisakers hot damn, son!!! Good work on that! Bet they feel great now!!
-
Stoked, @Memphisakers! They look a helluva a lot better on you than they did me! Looks like you got a fair amount of stretch on that waist, too! Glad everything worked out, my dude.

@Memphisakers like I have said before, I'm stoked another member found a pair out there. Are you planning on wearing them as your daily drivers? I am just now seeing noticeable fading on my pair at 105 wears. Have you noticed the "velvety" nature to the warp? When I swipe my hand downwards, I see the fade progress, but when I swipe my hand upwards, towards the waist, the fades nearly disappear and turn black again. It's strange and unlike other IH denim I have tried out.
-
It's the single-most unique IH fabric I've come across. Nothing else really compares, and even though it shares some of the same treatment of the standard OD, it's totally distinct.
Indigo hues, smokey grays, little pops of burgundy, and black as night. Just badass.
I'd kill for a re-run in the 634, but alas...

Couldn’t agree more
-
@Oaktavia I am really grateful to have found a pair!! I’m gonna try to use those as my primary black pair and the 666 XHS I got from Pal as my primary indigo pair all winter. So more or less my daily drivers. I did notice the velvety nature of the fabric!! It is VERY cool!!! I like to draw pictures in it If you look at the inner thigh area in top picture in my last post, it almost looks like wool… Crazy neppy. I’ve also noticed the areas that usually fade first are kinda slick looking like well worn SBG. Very unique fabric for sure.

@nonikes I appreciate it bro… Very grateful to have them!! I’m gonna beat um up
