IH-888-XHSBB - 25oz Selvedge Denim Medium/High Rise Tapered Cut - Black/Black
-
…well I finally got around to the wash/dry measurement fun, but first I'd just like to say that these are 'super monster killers'! ( thanks Adrian Belew ). These things are hard and stiff ( settle down now ) and they seem even more brutal than regular XHS Denim! Wow! :o
...I gave them a regular wash and tumble dry( inside out ) until slightly damp and then hung them up to dry overnight. I've done this to my previous pair of XHS-888 indigo denim to get the big billowy top block closer to my liking. Yes, I did get a little marbling but I don't mind because I'll be beating the hell out of these things in the real world, you know, work/play.
...no pic's yet because it is hotter than a crack pipe on pay day and these are not conducive to hot weather wear and that is an under statement. Here's the stats.
waist 36" 35.2"
thigh 13.7" 13.2"
knee 9.6" 9.4"
front rise 13" 12.4"
rear rise 17.1" 16.5"
inseam(H)34.5" 33.7"
hem 9" 8.6"...these are not for the faint of heart, absolute motorcycle drag pants!! ??? Bravo Harakisan!

Other then the difficult closure what's your thoughts on the feel of the denim?

I think it feels/ looks a lot like the SBG on steroids. It is very stiff and rough. The denim has a cool sheen to it with sort of a vertical irregularity that you can see very pronounced because of the sheen of the denim. I wouldn't quite call it slub because the hand of the denim is smooth and even.
I was definitely impressed by how the denim felt and my initial impression was positive. Like it seems extremely heavy and that is what I like. I was also impressed by the nickel rivets and tonal stitching. The black pocket bags and liners are super awesome.
I am happy to own a pair. Not looking forward to struggling with the waist for a while. But I tried to give them a pre-game stretch out before the first soak so it won't be as much of a struggle.
My other pair of 888 XHS sized down I just soaked and didn't bother to try on to stretch out before the soak. They were agonizing to wear at first.

It's the only 25oz I've got, so can't really compare but I think it broke in rather quickly. I did a hot soak the day after I received them, then wore them about a week and did another hot soak.

it was the lowest button for me, had to button that one up while not wearing them. Brutal. :o
Yeah that's a pain in the ass the first couple times.
It's the only 25oz I've got
That's a shame. But hopefully Providence will land you in another pair soon. I feel like everyone should have a pair of regular indigo XHS.

The reason I haven't put any miles on the BB is because the indigo XHS has been such a stubborn fader! I've been wearing them every day for the last 6-7 months at least, and just now began to start seeing some whiskers!

@Al:
A question if I may.
I have only ever seen pictures of 'blowouts' on Black Jeans, is there a reason for this?
Thanks
I suspect you just haven't come across them, every pair of jeans I have ever owned have blown out eventually with no discrimination of colour

That a big pot…
2nd boiling soak in an even bigger pot today. Hopefully they will stop bleeding dye. It's freaking crazy how much dye bleeds out of these!

There's lots of indigo blowouts in the IH HALL OF FADES. A lot of them have been darned over.
