RE: Long time, first time, but confused…. Help/Advice
hopeful this will morph into your fit pictures & daily wear, since it started as a question that could of went into a number of different threads.
good luck buttersb & i hope you are happy with your purchase
**this thread is a gleaming example of why this is a special place
I agree.
Giles, Yourself, Max, Seul, and others (first names that came to mind) somehow found a way to ride it out as I pestered the forum with questions. Questions that I am sure have been asked countless times, since eternity. However, it is a considerable investment ($350-400) and with that kind of money comes hesitation, doubt, and questioning. But Giles and co. seem to soldier on despite the nagging :). I assume because it's a labor of love, loved by many. I am sure once I get my pair I will be converted like all the rest !
Thanks again. Fit pics for sure. Someone said I better have some by Xmas (fingers crossed). And WAYWT on ocassion, I'm sure.

RE: Long time, first time, but confused…. Help/Advice
Took the plunge!
Ordered my IH634s and found a local Chainstitcher so might as well have the 'no quibble return' an option and hold of on the hem.
Thanks for all your help Giles, Seul, etc.
Can't wait to get these gems, throw up some fit pics, and break 'em in!

RE: Long time, first time, but confused…. Help/Advice
Please note that we can't refund or exchange jeans that we have hemmed, so do check your sizing carefully against the sizing charts and advice on the product page
Thanks. Sorry, I didn't see that.
-
RE: Long time, first time, but confused…. Help/Advice
They are sanforised so wont shrink, but you will get 1/2 inch or so apparent reduction in length when the combs set.
Thanks again Giles.
With That being said, a hem of ~32 should be perfect
I will probably be making my purchase very soon (today).
lastly, the 'no quibble' exchange includes if hem is apart of my order' ? -
RE: Long time, first time, but confused…. Help/Advice
Just buy a pair that you think are close, we have a no quibble exchange policy…..
Last Question, and it's for you Giles.
I typically where a 34/30 in most jeans. The inseam on those 34/30's that I love dearly is actually a 31.5. They are about perfect with my ~1 inch cuff. The 34W IH634s sound great, except clearly the inseam is going to be ….very long, even after shrinking (i'm assuming).
Waiting till after to hem/chainstitch is very inconvenient, so I wanted your advice on hemming w/ my order.
Thanks,
-
RE: Momotaro
@Max:
They don't stock them, but I was referring to the size chart. Rakuten is the way to go, maybe blue owl or BiG, context can do a special order, too.
What 'store' on rakuten. Theres tons of them, and the measurements on each one for the 0805's are varied, so not sure what size, or which 'store' on rakuten to go through.
-
RE: Momotaro
@Max:
You have to browse a bit, it's under the fitguide
Lastly, I don't see 0805's @ BiG or nordic. As a US customer, what are the best options to purchase, accounting for returns and such?

RE: Long time, first time, but confused…. Help/Advice
@dcg:
^Well, if you need a 36…and 34+1 is 35.....
Most brands are vanity sized. IH is not.
Yes, I know what you mean. I guess I should just double check my actual waist measurements, and not some jeans to make the final call on that one.
-
RE: Long time, first time, but confused…. Help/Advice
as per waist and other meas. , take 634s in 36W. and stop pondering.
36 seems sort of big since I am a 33/34 in most bottoms, and the 1inch of stretching is expected to occur.
Correct me if i am wrong, but 34 is probably what I want?
And yes, I do need to stop pondering and just bite the bullet

I found these measurements to be the most accurate.
Thanks again Max! However, I do not see those measurements, or the 0805sp on the nordicdenim site.
Regardless though, the measurements look good. -
RE: Momotaro
@Max:
Well, I had almost no shrinkage at all on the Going to battler series. The waist stretched approx. 1". But then, I only did handwashs and never soaked them. You might get more shrinkage when doing a hot/warm machine wash.
So are the 0805sp a pretty standard straight fit?
The jeans I have that are snug have these measurements:
Waist: 34
FR: 10'
BR: 15
Thigh:13'
Knee:9'
Hem:8.5'
Inseam: 31.5' -
RE: Long time, first time, but confused…. Help/Advice
look at the flicks of the way G does it. i am sorry, but i can not tell if you are doing it right with out seeing. you my friend are giving me a headache. i am stepping away for a moment as i don't want to give you bad advice or become short with my responses & stuff.
- i thought xmas was reasonable as well
Thanks again for baring with me. Sorry for being indecisive and such. I got all the measurements up.

RE: Long time, first time, but confused…. Help/Advice
I'm not going back reading the whole thread but where are we going with this?
What trying to determine if the IH634s were a good fit, if DC4001's would be a possibility, and what other popular brand/cuts would be up my alley - based on some measurements of jeans I already own.

RE: Long time, first time, but confused…. Help/Advice
PRPS Heirlooms
Waist: 36-36.25'
FR: 10.5'
BR:15.5'
Thigh:13.5'
Knee:9.25'
Hem: 9''
Inseam: 33.5'The heshers are nice and fitted (comfortably snug even), these are nice and roomy.

RE: Long time, first time, but confused…. Help/Advice
Heshers,
Waist: 36 (crazy, i measured 34 last time)
FR: 10'
BR: 15
Thigh:13'
Knee:9'
Hem:8.5'
Inseam: 31.5' -
RE: Long time, first time, but confused…. Help/Advice
it's called a low a$$ rise.
probably can see your pubs sticking out
oh yeah, line them up per giles instruction.
Ok, measuring both the heshers and the prps jeans now.
Looks like measuring the cuff is now the full with of the jean at the opening, but just the opening itself. Is that corrent?
Asking because people were quibling over my measurements in earlier posts…
-
RE: Long time, first time, but confused…. Help/Advice
*Waist: Lay your jeans flat and try and get the front and back waist band parallel. Measure the width and multiply by 2.
*Thigh: Lay the jeans flat ensuring that any the rear rise material is to the left of the centre seam and measure the TOTAL width (not just to the centre seam) ensuring that the measuring tape is at right angles to the weft (white) yarns.
sorry off my meds
On my Heshers', when flat, the front waist band is pretty far below the back waist band. What is this called?
And you are saying that i should lay them flat and pull the front waist line to be fairly even with the back, before measuring?Just want to clarify…
LOL Madmonday, I am trying to determine what pant, and I will order. Xmas is a pretty reasonable goal....

RE: Long time, first time, but confused…. Help/Advice
The difference in the diameter of the knee of those jeans would be 0.127". Not sure if that qualifies as a lot looser. That's an eighth of an inch in the diameter
I know I'm late to the game, but I would have to agree that the 634S would be the way to go. For the athletic types, a tapered fit makes you look like a carrot with big feet
I am going to re-measure the jeans and I will let you know.
I will also measure my PRPS jeans (that fit comfortably but looser/longer fit (need hemming).I used http://blueingreensoho.com/site/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=30&Itemid= for the measurement guide.
Is there something else that is advised instead? -
RE: Momotaro
@Max:
No problem.
Momotaro has four lines:- vintage: 15,7 oz denim, raw, slimmest 0701, widest 0901
- Going to battle: white stripes, same 15,7 oz denim but one-wash, slimmest 0705 SP, widest 0905 SP
- Copper label: 14,7 oz denim, one wash
- the fourth is the natural indigo model.
What you are looking for, ist the going to battle series, the SP indicates it. The cuts are similar to the vintage label, but like I said one wash and with a shorter inseam (35" opposed to 39,5" raw, 36,5" post-soak).
The 0905SP is the classic wide, the 0805Sp and 1005SP are tapered with a lower rise, the 0705SP is the slimmest and lowest rise.
Hope this helps.
Thanks a ton Max Power!
Few more questions though: The jeans I measured only have a 31.75' inseam, and I can cuff those (3/4 -1 inch cuff), so 35 is going to be quite long. You said the SP's are one wash, so much of the shrinking is accounted for?
What sort of shrinkage could I expect out of those in the inseam, as well as the waist etc…?Thanks again!
