How is the pocket size for carrying a modern cell phone?
Over the winter I've gotten used to wearing a chore coat as my outer layer, and I've found it so much more convenient having my stuff in those large lower pockets. I can get my phone out of the pocket while sitting down without any futzing about, even with a seatbelt on, and nothing falls out of those big pockets as I move about!
I'm considering this waistcoat as a warmer weather substitute for the chore coat, but I want to know if it serves the purpose... Are the pockets deep enough? Does the phone pop out when you sit down, if it's done up? Does it fall out if you reach down to pick something up?

RE: IHJ-49 - Split Steer Modified Type III Jacket - Black or Brown
thanks for the feedback... I'm not too far away from Vancouver, so as much as I will be trying to avoid getting it soaked it will be pretty much impossible to entirely avoid getting wet some times. Good to know that the guys from The Shop don't think much is needed. I will probably eventually get some of that Saphir spray, but it is nice to know I won't need it for a while. I intend to have this jacket super long term and I take care of my things, but I also don't view my cloths as museum pieces and prefer them looking like they have been used!
Probably going to avoid DWR style coatings with their PFAS because that is what the emergency poncho is for! May not be stylish, but it does the job in a pinch! -

Any thoughts on maintenance for split steer leather jacket?
I have a black one arriving tomorrow, and I've never owned a suede jacket before.
What sort of conditioner would you use for a jacket like this?
It looks like Saphir makes a spray on Renovateur for suede that comes in neutral or black(also medium brown, dark brown, and navy). It's intended for boots, but i would expect it to work on something like this.
