@DENIM:
ME TOO CHEERS!
what was his name?Jack Shea, there is a facebook page for his party fwiw. He would have liked this place and been a wearer if he hadnt had a family to support. He was a bobber kind of guy. Welded his own frames, worked on others bikes for free, spent all of his time with his daughter and her momma, spent his spare money on tats, custom bikes and going to fireman school this entire last year after he worked all day as a mechanic. Cool guy. He rode to sturgis And back from Orlando if that tells you how much he liked to ride. Sorry for being a downer but it is what it is.

RE: Holding up during a crash
Dunno what to say but this is just too damn sad… Will the driver be prosecuted in any way because of this?..
No, since there were 2-3 conflicting witness accounts the cops basically said nobody was a fault and left it at that, but that was the report I got before my buddy died so once that happened it changes everything I was told. There will be a lawsuit, but I'm not part of it.
One last PSA before I leave this thread alone. If you ride, do NOT wear a Biltwell helmet. I have one and my buddy was wearing one in the crash. We all know they're not DOT, but it literally did nothing to save him in the crash where my old Davida pudding bowl did. Every crash is different but I know I'll never wear my Biltwell again. If he had been wearing any other 3/4 with more protection he would at least still be alive.Oh… and always wear your Ironhearts everytime you ride. You never know what will happen. PSA over.
If anyone here happens to live in Central Florida there will be a party in his name at Will's Pub April 10, this Sunday. It's your typical punk rock/indie bar. He wanted a party, not a funeral. Awesome dude.

@DENIM:
Ecz my prayers go out to you and your friend
Thanks. Bonnie may be totaled, still waiting to hear after all this time, but I'm almost 100% now, just still sore in a couple spots. My buddy never made it out of the hospital. Sucks hard.

RE: Holding up during a crash
ur lucky that you only have that little bruise
Did you see my shoulder
I can't raise my left arm more than an inch so it's more than a little knee bruise.
The bike is still in impound as the investigation still isn't over yet.
Buddy is still in ICU.
Thanks for the kind words. I was just hoping to point out this stuff works for it's intended purpose. The Biltwell helmet my buddy was wearing didn't help in the crash though.
Take care everyone.

Holding up during a crash
this tiny little hole is all the damage my 634s show after going down really hard after a truck decided to do a left turn in front of a couple of buddies and myself a few nights ago over at bikeweek. Happened so fast one guy never even touched his brakes (he's still unconscious) and I was just able to swerve enough to miss the truck but I guess I highsided… no idea. I do know I hit the pavement pretty hard and slid a good bit.
I have no idea how far I slid but I hit pretty hard (knocked me out and scuffed up the pudding bowl pretty good) and my heavy denim shirt (other brand)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v464/ebud/shirt.jpg
scraped the ground enough to lose a button and gave some major road rash on my shoulder. I'm just wondering if one of the IH shirts would have held up better. Maybe not since I would have bought a snap shirt but who knows.

My toe cap on my Iron Rangers is really scraped up so I know those 634s had to save me from some serious damage. Glad I was wearing them.
This stuff costs an arm and a leg, but I'll be getting a new pair come fall and maybe a shirt this time.

RE: Motorcycles
Talked my wife into driving me down to Ft. Myers to pick up my new T100 Black on Sat. Long day breaking it in riding through the boonies on the way back to Orlando but it was great, sunburnt and saddlesore but it was worth the wait ordering one.
Of course I wore my IHs … what else would I wear
No pics though... just never seem to remember to take pics during the day. It was a perfect day as well.

RE: Random Announcements
I just got them in Oct but it was pretty hot then but felt fine going down the road. Since Nov it's hasn't been over 80 that much so it's been perfect weather. In the morning commutes it's always been under 65 since Dec so it feels chilly going 70.
I got them specifically for riding and any more wear is just a bonus. I really only wear them a couple times a week other that for riding and it's not like I'm out hiking or jogging in them so the heat shouldn't be an issue and if I plan on walking very much outside I doubt I'll be wearing them. I have another pair of 21oz Esefs that I wear more often to ride to work since they're not so dirty and fit better for work.

RE: Random Announcements
Now I'm curious. Where on earth do you live, eczerwonka ? I wouldn't run into these issues in Oakland.
Florida. My neighbors said they've seen rattlesnakes in those woods but not in the last couple of years
They just laughed a me, but they're hillbillies and have lived in these woods for about 14 years. I grew up in the woods back in Illinois but it was nothing like the nasty woods here in Florida.

RE: Random Announcements
Funny story to me anyway
Last weekend I was cleaning out some mulch in my backyard and decided to scatter it out in the woods in front of the house.
Woods pic here.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v464/ebud/bike.jpg
So I go out there about 50' into the woods and start scattering it and this hawk which had been about 10' in front of me took off and scared the crap out of me. OK. So there he is in the branches just above me staring and screeching a bit at me. I decide to walk closer… then the loud hissing started. Big. Ass. Snake. All coiled up about 10' off to one side. I guess I disturbed the hawk trying to score lunch. I sloooowly back away (I'm wearing cutoffs and chucks) and then ran to the house, grabbed a pistol and machette and what did I put on without even thinking? My high engineer boots and my IH634s
Here I am thinking it might be a big rattlesnake and I'm going back out there thinking 21oz denim might stop a snake bite. I don't want some big rattlesnake squatting 50' from my house though. SO I then tip toe back to the spot and watch the snake, get it to open it's mouth with a looooooong stick and it ends up just a really big Pine snake. Doom averted. I never heard a rattle but the hissing was so loud it still wigged me out. Talk about a possible Darwin Award.
Kinda funny that here I am thinking there is a big poisonous snake across the drive and I think my IH's would protect me in any way, lol.

RE: Iron Heart Products - What do you think we should make?
I haven't read the entire thread yet but I'd like to suggest something I've been wanting forever.
If I could have any IH product I wanted it would be another vest, but not a type 3 looking vest.
I'd just love a 22oz vest that didn't look like I bought a denim jacket and cut the sleeves off. Something with more than a couple pockets to carry all my crap so I don't have to stuff everything in a saddlebag or wear a backpack. I commute every day and go riding on the weekends here in Florida and would love a vest that had enough pockets to carry my gloves, my cap and a couple pair of glasses. I'd love something similar in cut to the Post O'Alls cruzer or royal traveler vests but with a heavy weight yet not unbearable in the Florida heat.
Just another vest option might be nice.

RE: Introduce Yourself Here
Hey eczerwonka, how about an IH fit pic of you on your bike, we've not had many of them. No prob if you don't want to, but your bike looks cools (not that I know jack shit about bikes).
H
I have a couple of me next to the bike but none of me on it since I don't think I could ask anyone to "take a pic of me on the bike" without them wondering why… and if I told them they would think I was nuts
I'll try and dig them up tonight.
edit: ok here are a couple bad pics

RE: Introduce Yourself Here
Thanks for the welcome.
This board looks like it is more to my tastes after actually reading a lots of posts rather than just browsing products. Sufu I feel too old for and SF is too "snobbish" and pretentious for me even though I love to browse those 2 sites.
My tastes run between the two with slight hint of my hillbilly/white trash roots… I like the clothes but tend to not like many of the attitudes of the people who frequent those sites
I'm not a "fit snob" or a brand whore I just like what I like.
This place seems alright

RE: IHSH-21-BLU - 10oz Selvedge Chambray Work Shirt - Blue
Nice shirt. Understatement I know, but after looking at all the western shirts for so long and honestly hating them, I'm pretty psyched there is a heavy work shirt being done. Nice to see some variety in styles not just fabrics.
Now where is the workshirt done in heavy denim

RE: Introduce Yourself Here
First post
Lurked here a bit over the last year or so (mainly just stare at product shots) yet I only own one IH item which I've had about 6 months, the IH634s which I actually bought slightly used but got it at a 1/4 of the price so I'm pretty happy. Great jeans.
I found out about them over a year ago when I went looking online for parts for my W650 on Japanese sites and while browsing stumbled across them and had to get a pair somehow.
The price on them new pretty much killed that idea so I waited and waited til I found a used pair for sale on sufu. I'd get a new pair now but still that price… even then I was only able to justify it to the wife at that lowly price by telling her how much safer they are, lol. $150 shipped for a slightly used pair is dirt cheap but when you're used to buying $40 Levis it's still pretty high.
Thank god I got them sized for riding and not sized for picture posing since they are a bit big and if I posted fit pics I'd be told I should have "horrible fit, size down 2" but damn comfortable for actually riding. I can't imagine why some people would buy them a few sizes too small but to each his own. I have another pair of 21oz jeans I wear more for work which are nice as well (better made in my opinion) but the IHs are way for comfortable and are better in cold weather riding.
Great site and great products. Hopefully I can squirrel money away from the wife and save for some more IH gear.
