Now that the nights are drawing in I wouldn't mind some new boots. I am veteran of Red Wing usage, and also some Timberlands (but they have less kudos IMO).
I saw a mention of Alden on this forum, they look great but has anyone got some Albion-side suggestions for me please?
Best rgds

Welcome. I assume then you're not an advocate of the "wear for 6 months before washing" technique?
Good thread. I read like a librarian on meth.
Charles Stross is a favourite.
Too much Agile, not enough LEAN @hectic, that's the problem! Great solid update.
Not yet at your rarefied level @Snowy but I've taught myself a lot.
@Aetas - this one dude: https://www.waterstones.com/book/moro-east/samuel-clark/samantha-clark/9780091941871, I really rate it.
Yo,
@Giles pinged me the other day, appreciated that dude.
I've been locked in what my devs tend to call their pain-cave of work, been full-on head down with an occasional interlude of levity, for a long time.
So, instead this is a "What have you been doing for a few months" post (feel free to berate if there is a more suitable thread); I'll try to be quasi-informative.
When it was cold - this was as brutal the mild mild West got, a nano-layer of car ice:
This is great boutique German gin, excellent as a Martini, or on the rocks:
For @Megatron1505, random foreign candy…:
Always time for Gibson (apropos, was interested to hear his thoughts on IH recently):
Was in Barcelona for the Mobile World Congress, WALL-E might have been on the money (try not to ponder the porn implications):
My best smartwatch pick, from LG, nicest form factor IMO:
Huwaei are bringing it too, but a little bling for my taste:
LG flex 2 was kinda cool but couldn't wholeheartedly recommend:
This is a heavy weight gin, too brutal for very dry martinis, but with a heavier vermouth hand it shapes up nicely:
I made toasted almond alioli from the Moro cookbook, was insanely delicious:
Managed to get a luckly ghost image of the eclipse:
Bonus image of Jones the cat fresh out of his cryotube:
Messing around with the vacuum for the sous vide:
Far too much of this (but happy to chat to anyone who wants about Agile):
An excellent good IPA that kept me sane in Barcelona:
Another credible boutique gin, but more style than substance, 7/10:
To conclude - too much booze probably, and def too much work.
I'll catch up on forum shenanigans, will see you around.
Best

Thanks dudes. I'm obligated to say that "cerebral" is probably overly generous, but i have my moments.
Peace.
I picked up a Google Cardboard, an excellent, fun, proof of concept.
Here are a few third party apps which can be used with it:
SwivelGun - a log flume style simple shooter, one of the best ones for getting a sense of immersion
VR Cinema - I watched Snowpiercer with this, it renders the smartphone screen as a larger monitor experience
Glitcher VR - applies renders/filters to camera view
KolorEyes - 360 degree shot videos from different activities
Debris Defrag - simple space based immersion
Oculus Rift is the obvious upgrade here but there are pro options too, check out sensics.com
BTW, if you get one, apply some tape to the nose area otherwise the cardboard will pick up skin oils.
^ yeah, the shield cool down beep-beep is pure Master Chief.
So, I just recently got (was gifted!) an Xbone. Slightly surprised to find that there is no screengrab function. Am I missing something at all pls?
Anyway here is a crappy smartphone pic of Destiny quickly killing me (yet again)
Big up, Jeff. Stay frosty.
Here are some pics of my Schmidt shirt (I posted these before on Sufu but repeated here because…it's lovely):
