Thank you guys - this has been so far a very enlightening thread to read!!!
I know I don't qualify to comment because I don't wear IH ( not my fault) as a girl I've never since the age of 11 had a pair last more than 11 months. Its the left knee that goes fast but as I live a totally sedentary lifestyle I cannot explain this.
I would have thought 21oz denim would do it for most people, but reassuring to know that I'm not the only person who can't make jeans last.

Can I join in the fun?
IMO you all look terrific!
Stop criticising each other
IH is the business and you all know which models suit you
So post pics and descriptions - I like reading this thread even though I don't own any IH

RE: WAYnWT (Your Closet)
I hand each pair of denim with a cedar hangar. One clip above the front right pocket on the waistline, and one clip above the back left pocket. I do this to avoid clipping the patch and leaving an indent. It also helps to keep the jeans natural form. Make sure that if you go this route, you get hangars with clips that are strong enough to hold the strain of 21oz denim…
Just a peak...
For the Never Worn/ Dress/ New/ Out of the rotation…
If you don't have much space as I soon won't, I would suggest just grabbing a coat hook set and put it up behind your door. Do what stever said and just hang each pair by the back middle belt loop…
Also, this leads me to revive the wayNwt thread: http://www.ironheart.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=415.0
Where can you get cedar hangers, Lando???
They are absolutely gorgeous - did you get them in the UK
I need cedar hangers (currently everything individually hung on identical plastic hangers bought from Monoprix in Paris… Ready for an upgrade methinks)IQ

RE: FINANCES (A Place For Discussion)
I'm forced to live in an extension to my parents home for obvious reasons with my 2 Siamese cats.
My only income is my sick benefit, half of which I give to my parents for food, electricity, general household, laundry etc
My last ex boyfriend left me with a big credit card debt
But I still manage to spend the change on the nicest clothes I can afford - my passion (I was the "junior" at Valentino in Sloane Street at 20 - most fun job I ever had!

FRED (Paris jeweller who I used to live near)
Platinum plated - very low prescription… Not wearing them now... with a rose cut real diamond each size and rimless.
Can't ever imagine feeling good in another pair - took me 2 years to find those!
Don't know what I'll do when eventually they break. Not interested in fashion brands or trends - I just like these (but not without the diamonds, which are quite big!!!!)

Not jealous but happy that so many of you have such incredible collections.
I'd like to visit the Jeansmuseum in Switzerland before I die - I think that would be HEAVEN on earth!IQ

RE: Random Rants
At 19 I had to leave behind in Paris a gorgeous leather jacket because my card was declined although I sorted it out later on and recently had a similar gripe.
Now I've just cut up one of my 4 credit cards so the other 3 are nearly maxed- meaning I'll have to pay off some before my next (already planned) splurge. At least we ARE protected, although it is annoying when genuine transactions get refused.

RE: What is your Denim/ Clothing Life Story?
Everybody at school had jeans except me…Mum finally capitulated when I was 11 for the school disco!!!
As a teenager I raided the now defunct Soldier Blue in Kings Road for bleached Levi's - especially slim fit silver tab Levi's.
Then in 2000 I moved to Paris where I joined 3 movements-
The "Diesel heads" - every season the latest pair
Japanese jeans made with real indigo
Real genuine vintage Levi's- of which I had 2 pairsThen I developed ulcerative colitis and lost so much weight I ended up age 35 wearing Diesel age 6 and finally 4 months in intensive care.
After 2 years in hospital I moved back to the UK but am unable to live alone and apart from paying for my and my 2 Siamese cats keep, spend my sick money feeding my clothing passion.its hard to track down incredible jeans and they're all too big- ive had one fantastic pair made and am designing the next pair but that won't be soon as I'd like to fill out a bit and get great fades on what I do have without going through the knees as I usually do.
Heavyweight (above 14oz) has been so far impossible to find but I wear my jeans skinny and have been warned that I might not be able to bend my knees.
Reading the Forum and surfing is a great journey and I'm sure one day I'll find my dream jeans but as I'll never work again it's hard to imagine when.I take inspiration from the great brands and from my life in Paris and just hope I live long enough to realise my ultimate work in progress and create my ultimate jeans.

RE: Your current jeans rotation
Posting on this thread cos it's the least innappropriate:
Having spent the whole of 2011 chasing jeans and sending them back, I just got a very kind email to say that the very last pair I was chasing for this year was not available in my measurements (or lack of them) and I'm gutted.
So my rotation (as I've exhausted every brand this year) until 2012 when I start looking again stops at:
Timothy Everest 14oz BluexBlack Japanese jeans
Diesel Jegonfire biker style - probably end up as pjs in winter
Nudies Tight Long John in BlackBlack
3sixteen+ 14oz dark indigo - 2 identical pairsAt least all 5 fit so I can rotate and I guess not having found my "dream" jeans yet gives me a reason to carry on until 2012, when I can start looking again.
Can't even post fades pics as I have no IH

Great thread, love the pics
Would love to see more!!
SO interested in the denim evolution (I have an amazing book from Paris of the
first 150 years of jeans, still in original film and dust jacket)
Good for sleepless nights!IQ

RE: Lighter-weight denim versus heavy-weight discussion
Today I'm in 14oz (3sixteen+) which is the heaviest I've found so far to fit.
Next year I'll be chasing 19ozYou guys are SO lucky….being the size of an 8 year old is no fun out in the "real jeans" world!!!

RE: Neighborhood
I was tempted by their gorgeous jeans on Rakuten but there was no real sizing info and I had just cut up one if my credit cards- feeling very virtuous so couldnt anyway.
Most of the top Jap brands seem to cater for girls with hips (mine are 28"!!!) and no waist 23" and US jeans are massive compared to European sizing.
I must have posted back almost 10 pairs this year because they were too big.
But I do like Neighboorhood designs

RE: Lighter-weight denim versus heavy-weight discussion
The more I get into "real" denim, the more I love the weight of heavier denim.
I can't even imagine what IH feels like, as the heaviest I've got are 14oz, but I wear them as skinnies and have been forewarned that even in the 19oz that I crave I wouldn't be able to bend my knees!!!
My 11oz Nudies feel much heavier than that but next time it's 14oz again… Then try to step up to a heavier weight that I can move in!!
Enjoy your heavyweights- they look awesome to me!

RE: The Jeansmuseum - (Looking for your heavy/ used raw denim)
It's amazing!!!
If I have any worn out denim that I think should belong in the museum, I wouldn't hesitate to donate.
At the moment I keep my "Deadstock" that I can't bear to part with in my mums wardrobe but if I can ever bear to part with it I know where to go.
I'd give anything to be well enough to travel to visit one day, but I'm too fragile at the moment so I'll just enjoy the pics.

RE: WAYnWT (Your Closet)
Even more pleased- have sold too big Evisu coat!!!
Yippee!!
List for 2011 nearly there- unfortunately KAPITAL start at 27" and even 23" is loose enough to sleep in so that's one off my list.
Hopefully I'll find a bit more treasure this year before I move into my 2012 wish list!
Closet pics when it's all in one place - but you won't be impressed compared to what I've seen on this thread.

RE: Pure Blue Japan (PBJ)
I was assuming you had done your homework, buttersb
… But yeah if that's what you mean, check GimpKid's post... They look like overdyed jeans only they're not and fade much nicer… Again: these have barely been worn, let alone worn hard... I've been sleeping in them, that's about it... I only wear 14 ounce jeans when it's warm(er)...
I think I'm going back to sleeping in jeans as well - for some reason I sleep better than in pjs!
Later will soak in a bath and "get dressed!" again and see if I can sleep tonight as I'm shattered from being up all last night.
Anyway, if they wear out it just gives me an excuse to look for more… Although 2011 search not quite over.Been reading some other brands/fits... It's really helpful as I've ordered so many this year that don't fit.
From now on I'll check ALL measurements before ordering.
Also comments about how the denim "behaves" is really helpful as well.
Thnx guys for all of your threads that I've read- its really helpful.
IQVery uneven structure. Hard to tell, probably.

RE: Stuff you want to buy/dreaming of
Hi
Thanks for thinking of me!!!
I'll definitely look up the jeans although I've just had a pair made in top Japanese selvedge in Japan - the best fit ever but nearly bankrupted me!
But still ready for more…...French cuffs - no I have 2 friends that works at 2 different top shirt makers that get me huge discounts
When I can't afford that I buy TMLewin on sale (last shirt £22.50, but I've paid £450 for the ultimate Italian cottons before.)
But made to measure shirts I would like to go to heaven inIt's really nice to know people read my posts and I'm not just rambling to myself!!!
Thnx again
