After 20 years of buying various jackets online and being disappointed due to short sleeves or too big in the body, I found this Horsehide trucker jacket at an Iron Heart store a few blocks away from me. They had a size 42 (XL) in stock. I assumed it would be too big in the body but it fit perfectly in both the body and sleeve length (I take a 35/36 dress shirt sleeve). I'm so glad I found this jacket and now looking for more. I'm trying to break this one in and wear it around the house each evening. Still lots of snow on the ground so I have a few months before I'll start wearing it. It's my first Iron Heart product but so far I'm really impressed.

RE: IHJ-64-BLK - Horsehide Modified Type III Jacket - Black (Tea-Core Dyed)
Here are some pics that may (or may not) help prospective buyers of this jacket.
I'm 6'1, 185lbs and take a 35/36 dress shirt sleeve length as I have longer arms. This is the size 42 (XL) jacket.
Most leather jackets don't work for me as I need a size large for the body, but the sleeves are too short. Moving up to an XL makes the body to big and the sleeves are usually still too short.
As you can see here, the 42 (XL) sleeve length is great for me. The jacket is still too stiff to try and button up, but I can do it and it's definitely a slim fit across the chest. Chances are I'll never button it up anyways. I would compare this fit to a Schott 42 long.
Another reference point is I wear a size 42 in blazers from brands like Canali, Boglioli, Tagliatore and Lardini for the body and then get the sleeves lengthened slightly.
I usually take a size large in every other brand of jacket, t-shirt, sweater etc that I buy from various brands.
I tried on an XXL (44) of the same style of jacket in the split steer hide from IH at the store but it was too big in the shoulders, big in the chest and the arms around the biceps were baggy. This could have been because of the softer material or the size. I am interested in the Steer hide and will probably get the same 42 (XL) size in that as well if I find one.

@travisxray Any chance you have tried on the split steerhide version of this jacket? According to online measurements, they should fit similar but want to make sure before I order. I never thought about using this while riding my bike (I've got an old guzzi that likes to try and light itself on fire a few times a year) but it would be a good way to break it in on a warm day.

RE: IHJ-49 - Split Steer Modified Type III Jacket - Black or Brown
What's the durability like on the brown version of this jacket? Does it require lots of special care or can it be used daily and still look good? I just bought the black horsehide version of this jacket and looking for other Iron Heart jackets that have long sleeves as I have long arms. The other models of leather jackets seem to have shorter sleeves and there is a brown XL available at a store that I could order.
If anyone has both the black horsehide Type III and this one in the same size, do you find the fit is the same on them?

RE: Random questions to which you seek an answer
@T4920 Thank you. The measurements are almost identical between the two so it's probably a safe bet to take. The challenge is, not many retailers or items available so I don't know if I should buy this one now to snag the size. If it sells, it doesn't look like anyone else has one in this size, especially in my country.

RE: Random questions to which you seek an answer
Thanks for the reply. I just looked at the measurements again. The shoulders on the rider (with the shorter sleeves) is 1 inch longer (20.5) than the trucker (19.5) with the longer sleeves.
Would that suggest the overall sleeve length would be the same?
Having said that, the brown steerhide trucker is looking like it should fit. I would like a brown jacket and if it's durable as you suggest then it might be the way for me to go.

RE: Schott Leather Goods
I really like Schott jackets but , unfortunately, I don't fit well into their Large or Xl. I've got longer arms and their jacket sleeves tend to be a bit on the shorter side. Their models that are sized in 40, 42, 44 etc can be ordered in "long" sizes which is great. Unfortunately, only a few models are made now in those sizes. I think for the price, they are great jackets and I wish I could fit into them as there are lots of great ones on the 2nd hand market.

RE: Random questions to which you seek an answer
Why are the sleeves on the IH Horsehide Type III truckers so long vs the Rider's?
I've had a terrible track record over the past 20 years ordering leather jackets online (the local selection is awful) either new or used. I've probably gone through 10 jackets and only one (a custom Schott 42 Long that I waited 6 months for) fit. Everything else was either too short in the sleeves (size large) or too large in the body (XL) and even then the sleeves could be short. The majority of new Schott jackets can't be custom ordered in long sizes so I didn't have many options. I'm 6'1, 185 lbs and take a 35/36 inch sleeve in dress shirts.
A few days ago, I popped into a local clothing store a few blocks away (Brooklyn Clothiers) and saw the Iron Heart black Horsehide leather trucker jacket. It was a size 42 which was described as an XL. I immediately assumed it would be too big in the body and too short in the sleeves. To my delight, the sleeves were perfect and the XL body fit like a Schott Large. I bought the jacket and started looking for other Iron Heart jackets that might work for me.
The horsehide riders jacket with a collar is really something I would like. However, when looking up the specs online, the XL size has a 26.8 sleeve vs the Type III with a 28 inch sleeve. I suspect this 1.2 inches in different could make them too short for me.
Any reason why the Type III seems to have a longer sleeve length vs the rest of the leather jackets?
I did notice that a store in Canada (The Shop in Vancouver) has a brown split steerhide Type III in an XL in stock and that one has a 27.9 sleeve. I'm quite tempted to order that one but I'm not sure how that type of leather with the suede will wear over time.
Thanks
James
