RE: Iron Heart Meetups
What an absolute pleasure meeting @EdH (once again) and @doubletee, but especial kudos to @T4920 - he travelled further than the rest of us combined to make the meet-up this evening!
Sorry fellas, but the star of the show was definitely the leathers! -
RE: Bicycles
Tarmac SL6 for me - for my previous bike, I built from the frame up (Far East carbon frame), but this thing is awesome, and a beautiful paint job. I can only marvel at what the latest iteration would be like to ride…
Excuse the background…

RE: Live Concerts
Not sure how well known Echo and the Bunnymen are outside of the UK, but for a musical child of the 80’s, this pre-tour warm in front of around 400 people was fantastic. I also bumped into a couple of old friends which made the night.
Unlike many frontmen these days, Ian McCulloch spoke at length between every song - unfortunately he mumbled in a very strong Scouse (Liverpool) accent, so none of us Southern softies understood a word he said…or at least I didn’t!
For reference, one of the greatest songs of the 80’s:

@Nocturama Saw the video of Shane Hawkins playing with them and it made me really happy to see him playing with them. My hope is that at some point he gets good enough and strong enough to be their drummer. (Probably never happen)I feel ,that like style wise, he’s much more like Dave Grohl, kind of like how Zach Starkey is much more like Keith Moon than Ringo.
You could tell DG and JF have really taken him under their wing.
His performance was amazing, and he put everything into that one song - hitting the skins hard…but he looked absolutely shot by the end of it! -
RE: Live Concerts
Leg 3 of our stadium/arena tour this week (Pearl Jam in London) has just been cancelled due to illness. Sigh…
Time to tap back into some local/independent gigs.

RE: Live Concerts
Saw Foo Fighters in Birmingham, UK (Villa Park) yesterday evening, supported by Hot Milk and Courtney Barnett.
I have seen a review this morning which stated “At this point, Foo Fighters aren't just putting on a show, they're putting on the biggest rock'n'roll celebration on the planet, a three-hour, 27-song masterclass that truly sets a standard all rock bands should aspire to.” Whilst I take that with a sizable pinch of salt, it surely was one of, if not the best stadium/arena gig I’ve been to - it was everything you’d expect from a FF gig.Geezer Butler of Black Sabbath (and local to the area) came on for a rendition of Paranoid, and Shane Hawkins came on to play drums on This Is A Call. Josh Freese on drums was just phenomenal throughout - especially his drum solo.
Re the support acts, Hot Milk were decent, but strike me as trying too hard to display a rock n roll exterior (formulaic), which others have done and are doing better IMO. Courtney Barnett performed well, but the deadpan delivery isn’t the best formula to getting a crowd up for a party.

@JoshC said in End of Season Sale - 15% off - June 21st to June 24th:
@Brian We have just processed your order, and it will be shipped out today and should be with you on the 2nd of July. Is that okay?
If my order arrives on 2nd of July, I pray it gets to my house before I leave to play golf that day - that rolling pin @DeeDee85 mentioned might not make it as far north as my head!

RE: Live Concerts
Kings of Leon in Birmingham on Saturday night - excellent sound, superb audience participation (considering the indoor arena venue and size) and a better overall performance than when we last saw them 2 years ago. I have been sceptical of the new album, but the new songs they played came across well.
Warm night to be indoors - hoping the weather holds out this week for Foo Fighters and Pearl Jam. -

@Twistlock - how big an impact will losing Hurzeler have on St Pauli, do you think?
I have friends in the Brighton area (season ticket holders) who will be watching his progress intently…! I hope he does well, and St Pauli find a good replacement. -

Nearly ran this sluggish cinnabar over with the lawn mower.
Guessing this one was looking for my honey, but couldn’t get the cupboard door open!
