Doesn't look like a great shop. Looks like something from a mall. But right on for looking to buy something to support them. Cheers
I think calling it an average mall store is a bit of a stretch. They do carry better brands than your average mall store (Based on their website its similar to Context or Need Supply) but no, it's not a DC4 or self edge.
While this isn't the way I'd like a recently opened shop in Chicago to be introduced, have y'all seen this? It looks like the SuFu minions may be coming to a store near you.

Any Chicago members been to this store? I may buy something from them this week in support of their loss.
supersalami, what store were you at when you took your fit photos?
As far as I know, Giles and Haraki have nothing against Jay. Blue Owl carried Triple Works products previously, and could be doing so again. The reasons for the Self Edge/Iron Heart arrangement have been covered extensively, as Seul said.
I like Jay a lot and enjoy doing business with him. He is genuinely good guy and I highly recommend Blue Owl. I'm looking forward to seeing what his collaborations with Momotaro will be; I know he had some interesting ideas…
Just to clarify, I wasn't meaning to give Giles or anybody associated with Iron Heart a hard time. I was just venting at a general annoyance I have with the way business is done in the world of Raw Denim. It was my mistake for letting this thread get off topic.
As far as the Blue Owl x Momotaro Collabs, 2 of them are already out. The fit looks to be a little too skinny for my tastes but the Midnight Warrior jean is mighty tempting…

I've only had great experiences here with the customer service provided by Jay. he has given me so much help with sizing and measuring that he pretty much won my customer loyalty forever
Ditto. The only place I trust to get my denim hemmed. Great pricing and the BOW point system is unmatched by anyone else in the biz. Now if only they would start selling IH…this brand monopoly B.S. that has infected this industry has gotta stop.. (walking away before angry rant begins...)
had them for 4 wks. I need to get these hemmed a couple inches shorter. I live in Minneapolis, USA. Feeling like it is worth sending them out to get proper chain stitched… Any suggestions, recommendations?
Thanks
Blue Owl Workshop in Seattle, no question. Jay is a great dude and is the only person I will send my jeans to for hemming, even though I live in Raleigh NC and the Raleigh Denim Curatory is 15 min away. 24hr turnaround and spectacular service and quality hemming job. $25 per pair for hemming, plus return shipping. Just put a note in with your request (thread color, length, whatever) and contact info and he'll get you sorted out.
Yea, I agree. Was just saying because these seemed to get esspessially rough after they got wet. But I've washed mine twice and there pretty soft. Well relatively
By the way, if I hadnt said it before…
These things are insanely amazing.
I hope so! I bought them because of the pictures you posted. No joke.
Did you get them? Thoughts?
I did. Got a 31 first - too big. Exchanged them for a 30. Still need to send them off to Jay at Blue Owl to get hemmed. Once I do I'll post up fit pics.
won't tate take them back? I mean if they're not measuring their own product and they're using someone else's size tables and they won't stand behind the numbers they post I'd throw a fit. they ought to cover return shipping and exchange for a proper pair if it's so far off
i would have returned them but they require all tags and such for returns - and when I tried them on for the first time I ripped the main tag on the back pocket. Plus the fact that I'm training for my first triathlon and expect to shed 10-15 pounds over the next 4 months, so it just wasn't a show stopper for me or a real priority to return them. Just annoyed at the discrepancies in measurements vs reality more than anything.
Well guys luckily I was able to make these work - soaked them and wore them while damp, stretched them enough that I can tolerate the tightness at the waist. My original angst with these wasn't that they didn't fit as much as the tagged size and measurements on both self edge and dc4 was 2-3 inches off of what I received. I understand the handmade variations in size but that's just excessive IMO.
Anyone ever have luck soaking unsanforized denim from the pockets down to minimize waist shrinkage? Trying to think about a way around this other than returning them
So I just picked up a pair of 3009's in size 32 from Tate+Yoko. after multiple measurements using the self edge method the waist on these is 30" - raw and fresh out of the mail. Needless to say they can never touch water or i will never fit into them. What gives flat head?

I would not soak them they will not stay as soft, but that's just me
Yeah, I know soaking sanforized denim isn't the most popular thing to do but I find it really helps with the bleeding and any potential shrinking that remains in the fabric.
Yep. All over. Took like a month to really stretch well. I could barely walk the first week.
Thank God. In the tub they go for a residual indigo soak and I'll get fit pics up once I get them hemmed and worn a few times.
Well got the 30's in today. Now we've gone from way too loose to Momotaro level tight. Anyone experienced much stretch with these?
(getting back on topic…)
+1 victim for the sizing of these. I thought sizing down to a 31 would be enough but no can do. Sent back to Self Edge in exchange for a 30, so if any of you have been looking for a 31 it should be in stock again soon.
I presume you're talking about the 0702 Stormowl? Interesting because after writing the previous post I got the ER007-2B and had exactly the same issue you're describing. To be honest, I've kinda given up on them for now because the top block wasn't stretching like I hoped it would. I'll keep 'em in the background in case I lose a bit of weight at some point.
So for any other prospective buyers, I second the idea of sizing up with either of these models, unless you love pain.

Correct, my jeans are the 0702 Deep Indigo model.
