White's Boots

So you're both saying that I should get a size 8?
I had a feeling you guys might say that, but now am sure.. Thanks!I have/had 4 pair of White's and probably 8 or more Red Wings. If someones experience with RW was with a moc toe boot then I guess I could agree the White's semi dress last may feel a half size bigger, but that RW moc toe is a narrow last. I will always buy my same size Red Wing as White's, 10.5D. I do not have a very voluminous foot but I am not a C width. Just my opinion. What Red Wings do you have?
-
My Red Wing experience is with GT's and the rough out chukka (forgot the model number). However, it is worth pointing out that there is quite a size/ fit difference between the Whites Semi Dress and the Oxford (I have both) of around half a size.
I would match my Red Wing size for SD's, but go down half a size for Oxfords. Just my personal experience, if you want to be more sure, email Kyle at Bakers.
-
I think the only problem here is that there isn't really a "White's" fit. Oxfords, SD's and SJ's all fit very differently, which can have quite a bearing on choosing the right size. Same can be said of Red Wings.
I can tell you what the Oxfords fit like in comparison to Red Wing GT's or Chukkas, I can't tell you what they fit like in comparison to Moc Toe Red Wings.
Go to Kyle, we may all be (unintentionally) blowing smoke up your ass.

In my opinion (having worn both) the Whites are half a size bigger than the Red Wings.
So, also bigger than the RW Chukkas?..

In my opinion

^^^
i think it would help solve the problem cause the folks at White's could look at the template & say okay based on the measurements you sent in you are size ** width **
at least from the template they sent me it seemed to work like that. ah, the joys of e-commerce

Right, so all this talk of Whites has backed me into a corner and forced me to sell my SD's via eBay, as I require funds to buy a new pair of Whites or Viberg (undecided, by probably Whites). I haven't listed them on the forum, as I know the resole job with the Lug sole was not popular here, although the workmanship was good quality, also they are not what you would call cheap as I need the money.
If anyone on the forum is interested in them, I would obviously offer a reduced rate for members.

fwiw, Im a 10 in Whites SD last, and I was sized into a size 10 Oxfords by Bakers as well. I have not received the oxfords yet, but I did have multiple conversations with them. If any of you guys are in doubt, ask Bakers! Dont listen to us mooks, each of our fittings could be different.
-
I once worn a size 8.5d red wing 9111s, and I want my oxfords to be nice and snug..
well, Bakers told me that if they are too small they can have White's re-last them up a half size no problem…

Finally coming close to a decision:
Alternative a: Semi dress in brown horse hide, cap toe, vibram 700, double midsole, natural edges, curved heel, standard heel height, single celastic sole.. etc.
Alternative b: 6" bounty hunter last smoke jumpers in brown smooth, cap toe, vibram 700, double midsole, natural edges, curved heel, standard heel height, single (or no?) celastic sole.
Give me 4-5 more days and I'll order

Both sound good, but were it my money, it would be alternative A.

imo, if you're really dead set on double mid-soles, Bounty Hunter would be more apropos
btw, just to make clear: Bounty Hunter is on the SD last & they're only called Smoke Jumpers if they're on Vibram Lug 100 soles.
