I've dealt with HPA two times before. It isn't all that bad having to call. In fact if I had placed an Internet order I would have ended up returning for the next size up. I like the phone order. Keeps the riff raff out and is probably helping to keep their prices down. My buzz sweats were a full 70 dollars less before shipping (both shipped for 15) than they were on SE website at the time.

i just got the cpo shirt. i had to size up from my usual 38 regular.
its a corker of a piece.
-
also got the buzz rickson hook deck jacket on order in 38.
does anyone know if these come up snug or roomy?
i've got the paratrooper smock and m-65 as 38s and they're both a good fit.
the cpo shirt i had to size up from a 38 it was a bit too san frandisco in that size.

watch cap showed up today, the box they shipped it in was comically big
but man is it ever a nice fucking hat
and included a nice enviro sac, reusable shopping bag with history preservation associates logo on the side
also check the pricing on this hat direct from them, seen it go 30 bucks higher used on ebay then what they sell it for on there web site -

hook deck jacket is lovely but i understand why people may prefer a sea-washed version.
the celluloid waterproof layer means that when you move around there is a crumpling paper noise.
as if you are wearing a jacket made out of waxed brown paper.
not unpleasant but at the same time i prefer a 'silent but deadly' approach from my jackets.
particularly when they are military themed.
the wool liner is about half as thick as a cpo shirt so this is a good looking jacket but definitely not extreme weather.
in other news ordering it from japan cost me £4 more than from buzz rickson in the UK.
you really need to ask the store to put a different price on the invoice though i'm sure that's an insurance risk.

I agree. Just bought a Sugarcane shirt from HPS. The guy there is a nice guy, knows his stuff about the cuts ect. saved myself some serious cash also.

crumpling noise nearly a thing of the past after a week's wear.
such a lovely jacket.

Anyone know what the sizing is like on these? Do you go for your true chest size?

That looks serious… What are your thoughts on it?
-
that is a lovely pea coat and a great fit. what size is it?
does anyone have thoughts on how the rickson measures up to the real mccoy take?
-
very nice RP
hassinator, the RM one is slightly longer and has a more tailored/fitted cut

nice one babyknight. i know the buzz version as being very luxurious in terms of sheer depth of melton but from photos i'd presumed the mccoy longer and indeed more fitted.

Thanks for the kind comments. This peacoat is a reproduction of the pre-WWII U.S. Navy jacket whereas I don't think that the IH peacoat is intended to replicate any specific model. This one is made of 36 oz Melton wool, very tightly woven. I saw the pictures of the IH peacoat on the Forum and wanted to get it, but it sold out too fast so I did some searching and this was the one I liked the best. It is really nice when you see it up close.
I take an L or XL in my IH shirts and I got this jacket in tag size 40. The shoulders are probably as narrow as I could go (I tried it on with the IHSH-64 and it was fine) and the chest measurement is perfect. Here are a couple more shots:
