SHIPPING

I'm sure it's frustrating, RP, but I'm willing to cut the USPS some slack. Who knows what's going on in the NYC facility these days. After the hurricane, there's no telling what sort of mess there is between damage, backlogged packages, relief goods, short staffing, holiday increases in volume and so forth.

There are pluses and minuses.
Shipping to Europe is more than with UPS, but is faster. US looks better. One of the problems with UPS is that there are large ares that are "out of area". When this happens we get hit with a USD20 uplift on shipping. I am sure there are similar issues with TNT, hence the trialling.
And The TNT/UPS merger is expected to get ratified soon anyway…..

I used to work for TNT, so backed…

I had many problems with TNT in the past, endless delays, stuff like they did not deliver express packages in time, because it would had been the only sending in my area they would had to made the day. Packages that layed around in hubs for several days and only a call made them to get it going…. Have not used them, in at least the last 12 months, so no up to date experience
-
This might be a stupid question, but can you specify to UPS what time of the day you want the package delivered? I'm about to place an order, but wondering wether I should ask to get it delivered to my work or home adress. I haven't had much experience with UPS.
-
No, you can't specify what time they deliver. They typically deliver during normal office hours (9a-5p) but sometimes deliver later (6p or so). I also believe you can have them ship earlier in the morning, but you will have to pay extra for that. Do what I do, call UPS with your tracking number while it is en route, and have them hold it at their local shipping hub. You can then pick it up at your convenience.
-
Thanks. Work adress it is then. Their local shipping hub is even more inconvenient to get to. A great reason to go to work!

For those of you in the US, just a reminder that the USPS postage rates change as of Monday January 28th
All Priority Mail and Standard Post(formerly Parcel Post) packages will now include delivery confirmation in the price. Will still be extra on 1st class parcels. This should make things much easier for buyers and sellers using USPS. Stamps also go up a penny and a variety of other services as well, including Express Mail
