WESCO

I pulled the trigger on a pair of Wesco harness boots a few weeks ago.
At first, I was looking at Fryes and Chippewas, with a preference for Chippewas, then I stumbled upon a site called booteddude or bootedharleydude, and realized I had totally forgotten to investigate Wesco, which I did. There was a link from the harleydude's site to the Stompers boots store in SF, and the guy from Stompers totally sold me on those even though they are more expensive than Chippewas.
But the wait was long, so I put the idea to sleep for a while. At the same time, my nice cowboy boots are taking a beating with the rain, snow when I ride to and from work and they dont do a good job at keeping my feet warm. So I said fuck it, and got the fast track option on the wesco site, which cut the wait time to a few weeks.
They are scheduled for delivery in the next 10 days, provided French customs and Chronopost (USPS' local partner) don't take years to clear the package… I have a notion that I'm going to start wearing my superblack IH pants again soon...

What are the specs on your Harness boots?
Nothing fancy:
STYLE BK7700H100R (Size: 11D)
+Single-Tone:Black
+11" Height
+#100R Vibram Sole
+Standard Heel Height
+Harness Pull Straps
+Harness Straps
+Nickel Plated Rings
+Lightweight Black Upper Stitching
+Black Kevlar Outsole Stitching -
Sounds like a winner, I'd love to see some pictures when they come in!
Unlikely because I have this policy whereby i only post pix of IH products on the IH forum, but check out the harleybootguy's site, he's got loads of those pics, or the stompers site

Received my pair today. They are monsters. Huge, imposing, almost intimidating. Heavy, stiff. The breaking in is going to last quite a while, but I predict they will be my go-to pair of boots for the next 25 winters and falls.
The vibram soles are almost cleated. Great grip on the wet pavement riding back home this evening.
Am I glad I went for these. They are like prehistorical dinosaurs or something

Day 1: as mentioned in my previous post, they are very heavy and walking is slow in those beasts.
One huge problem: they are not lined and therefore the top stitch rubs like mad on the shin, which forced me to come back home and put on tall socks to get some protection, I was starting to bleed on one side and the other leg is bruised… Not good. With the tall thick socks, it is fine and dandy.
I'm too lazy, but if I werent, I'd ship them back to get lined...
Apart from that, they look terrific, are great for riding and apart from the top stitch ripping my skin, they are not at all uncomfortable despite being so stiff, heavy and monstrous.
I like them bad!

I have the same pair gb, I always wear long socks with them for the same reason you have. Once they break in
you'll be even happier with them. -
I have the same pair gb, I always wear long socks with them for the same reason you have. Once they break in
you'll be even happier with them. So, do I need to invest in a series of long socks or do they stop slashing my shins when they have broken in?
-
I'm not sure, that thread is pretty heavy…I wear my Boss boots more than my harness boots.
My Bosses are broken in and the stitching is still sharp so I'd invest in long socks to save your shins for now
at least. Maybe down the line your harness boots will break in better than mine and you'll be able to lower
your socks.Try rubbing a little beeswax on the stitching, helps a bit.
-
Just as a basic rule, one should always wear socks that reach above the boot tops.

I saw a pair of WESCOS in the latest edition of Heritage Post, and I really loved them. How do these price/quality compare with White's and Viberg's?

Price depends on what u want 400-1000. Wescos aren't fashion boots. They are tanks. They are the most rugged and durable engineer boots u can buy
