Well… If you have been on VLV for a LONG time (like, 6-7 years), some people are like family haha...

sorry, didnt mean that as an insult. when someone brings up the b9 board i automatically think of internet beefs and lots of "slurs" haha. I sort of shy away from messageboards, but this one somehow sucked me in!
Btw…i like that all is suffering stuff you posted. If you havent heard them, I really dig Martyrdod from sweden. Both albums "Sekt" and "In Extremis" are great!

I was talking to Tom, but VLV is, well… Imagine a more dramatic but less testosteron fueled B9-board...
With less n00dz.
@simon626:
I like that band a good deal.
I also have an extremely hard time figuring out what genre something is besides rap, rock, and pop. Everything blends…
Not to sound like the genre police or anything, but AILD is more "metalcore" than anything else, fresh out of hot topic and the like.. Definitely not hardcore.

That part of your family you HATE!!!!!!!

Eli - I grabbed a pair of 634's. Nate grabbed a pair of 301's as an exercise in half-Asian traumatic shopping bonding solidarity. Both are getting chainstitched right now…
But back to hardcore, eagerly awaiting the new Crow 7" and Nagoya City Hardcore comp LP. Should be here any second now.
I also just snagged a couple Beyond Pink LP's. They were described to me as "5 Swedish chicks sounding like Negative Approach." I'm skeptical, but found both LP's for $8 apiece, so why not. Trying them out in a sec...

@riffblaster:
i'll be honest. i dont know what vlv is.
i'm glad i wasn't the only one…
who is geeky enough to remember the sxe-l list? i'm betting i'm it.
i remember that. the beginning of hardcore E-Beef.

What's one general song from the hard core genre that is widely accepted as good?

That's pretty difficult to nail down since there are so many varying styles in the scene.. I'll post a few youtube video links though:

here are some basic classic albums that i cant imagine anyone would disagree about.
Bad Brains - Roir Sessions and Rock for Light
Black Flag - Damaged and My War
Cro Mags - Age of Quarrel
Minor Threat - everything
Poison Idea - Pick Your King
Misfits - Earth AD and Walk Among Usthere are a thousand others i could name that some could argue as more important or influential but these albums are at least a good starting point for early hardcore, and could be considered the basis that most modern hardcore spawned from.

^ +1
yeah there's a ton of music out there. speaking strickly NYHC, for me, here's some of my faves that I would consider essential- (Cro-Mags already mentioned)
MURPHY'S LAW- MURPHY'S LAW, AGNOSTIC FRONT- LIVE AT CB'S, TOKEN ENTRY, UNDERDOG, SICK OF IT ALL, ABSOLUTION/BURN, BORN AGAINST, LEEWAY, STRAIGHT AHEAD. . .
those are just some of them. i could go on and on and on. . .
-
Well I'm not into 80'ies stuff at all… My list 'd be completely different... Just to show that itis indeed impossible to pin down hc to one era, let alone one song…
very true. i was just trying to think of stuff that would be considered "hardcore 101".
-
Crow is a perfect example of a band that was great in the 80'ies, great in the 90'ies, and is even better now…
7" is ordered btw... Was looking at the new comp. but decided against it...
crow definitely rules. gonna need that 7 inch too. other current bands that i really dig….Nails, Burning Love, Ceremony.

feel free to check out my bands converge and doomriders. they are acquired tastes for some haha.
