FAQ's
Q1. I have changed my mind about the jeans which I want to use for the contest, the jeans which I am now using are in a different weight category, what should I do?
Just let us know. If you have not begun your own thread over on the DWC forum then no action will be required. If you have then one of the DWC team will either close, move or delete your original thread as appropriate.
Q2. I entered into a weight category, but when I have soaked my jeans the denim weight increases and pushes them up into the next weight class, what should I do?
It is important to note that all category weight classes are POST soak, as this will be their wearing weight and it brings them back in line with their one washed or sanforised equivalents. For everything else just follow the answer from Q1.
Q3. When can I begin wearing my jeans/ shirt/ jacket/ boots?
Everyone is allowed 30 amnesty wears prior to the competition. You can do whatever you like with your amnesty wears, if you want to climb a mountain go ahead ! As a two year contest there will be plenty of time for everyone else to climb mountains, and don’t forget that the contest is based around aesthetics, not “how quickly can I trash my jeans”.
Q4. I registered for the contest but I cannot access the forum, what is wrong?
Nothing is wrong, we have to approve each order manually to prevent spam accounts gaining access to the forum. This will always be done within 12 hours of registration.
Q5. Why do I have to pay to register for the contest?
The contest is presented this time on a web based platform, funds are directed towards paying for this, associated design costs, anyone’s time taken in assisting with working on the contest and the rest will be put back into prizes for competitors. The contest is not run for profit, far from it, but those organising it are regular working guys and unfortunately we do not have the means to fund this ourselves.
Q6. Will there be any parties or meet ups?
Never say never but we (more specifically Megatron/ Gav) did not want to over promise and under deliver with specific regards to this element as it was a huge regret from HWDC2, therefore we will not rule it out but nothing is currently planned. Preliminary discussions were held with Vater & Sohn in Hamburg for a launch party, but this will not be possible due to time and funding constraints. If the contest finds itself in a position to fund and host a party at any stage then of course we will, we love a party.
Q7. What does the winner get?
The winner of the DWC stands to get a denim shopping spree in excess of £1200 provided by the contest and our generous sponsors. Different contests, such as the boot contest, have different prizes. Fit pic of my DTWC outfit - I really like how these look together. This shirt rules.
-
A similar pic to that, once a month in that exact spot and pose would make a great evo album Kyle.
-
That's just what I was thinking of doing Mega - I'd probably take font and back pictures, though.

You're a brave/ deranged man…..I like it

So this is being discussed over on SuFu but not many people are posting opinions. What does everyone think about chambray and denim linen shirts being allowed into the tux division. Its not a game changer if its strictly denim shirts but just trying to mix it up a bit and bring in some more unique items.
-
The debate finally got going, and on social media too. Consensus seemed mainly to be that duck is ok as a harder fabric but chambray and linen take away the hardcore nature of the contest so they are out.
-
I know it is
-
I thought that Chambray was pretty much a lighter weave of canvas.
I did ask @Megatron1505 about Herringbone and Hickory the other day, which are different weaves of denim-like fabrics, but got told no. I'd have thought that Wabash would count too as it's effectively denim with bleach spots on it.
My view would be that if you're allowing Duck then all of the above are variations on cotton fabrics that are differentiated by their weaves, and so should be eligible.
-
Like I said over on SuFu, it was opened up for discussion on the forums and social media and the majority went against it.

For anyone still on the fence about this….

Chambray, Canvas, Duck is not denim, Wabash should be a possible choice because its 3x1 twill weave just like denim, just with a colored warp/weft and the bleached dots.
Like Giles said in another thread -> 100 people, 101 opinions.
Gavin, I am sure you will do the right, it´s your contest, you can do whatever the feck you want. Somebody don´t like it? He/She should start his/her own contest.
