^I think its bloody ridiculous that you have to get a student loan in the first place. The system should invest in people committed to further learning in the knowledge that these individuals would put a return on the investment once their studies are complete. I too feel for you Mega

It's a bloody miracle he's not having to pay 1000 quid a week…

Big props to my parents.
2,5 years ago I decided to go back to school (full time) to become some kind of social worker. I did not a penny for it. But my parents gave me a roof and food + some bucks for the everyday fun. That's the reason why I work also on the weekends besides school and my unpaid internship.Mega, I feel with you. It sucks so hard to want education but pay so much for it.

Lol. Call me when your student loan payments are 80% of your mortgage payments.

I pay well over 150% of my mortgage in student loan payments….

In the US the university system is a huge profit machine. A "college degree" is now the 13th grade. Most students graduate with debt payments ranging from annoying to staggering.
Employers stopped caring from whence came my degree after my very first job, post-graduation. The best education I ever got was the reading I did myself when young, language training, and typing. In fact, my typing class may be the most beneficial class of all as regards preparation for life in the real world. Sad commentary.

^ just wondering. is the uni education system in the US deregulated?
in australia, they were thinking of deregulating the system. and all around there have been protest that 'our education is not for profit'
-
There is a degree of regulation, but the "get off my land" crowd in the flyover land makes sure the cards are stacked in favor of the profit machine. Medical care and education have, for the most part, been handed to the "free market" in the US.
…but, but, but capitalism ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Stop poisoning them with wheat and they'll go back to being black labs.
