Some of the meals during the day. one of the best tempura's i've had. tucked away in a little corner in Asakusa
As mentioned before, picked up the rental GTR and went to odaiba before resting up for the night for fuji on Day 3
and always, a mandatory full body pic…
i'm pretty exhausted after waking at 5am getting up to go to fuji and such for a whole day out. hope you guys enjoy the little amount of photos!
-
beautiful pics @louisbosco - keep it up!
-
Got me hooked @louisbosco always love to see different views of Japan.
Some other highly recommended coffee shops BTW - https://medium.com/@wadeis/tokyo-filter-coffee-aka-third-wave-649fd73a7c0b. One has moved (Paddlers), others have opened more locations (Blue Bottle & Steamer). All are pretty amazing!
-
cheers buddy. i will try. day 4 and i'm more exhausted day by day @Finkster
@Snowy cheers mate. your trips has been eye opening too. i'll bear those places in mind. have yet to try streamer but it's definitely on my list. though i have to say, japan's coffee are much darker than usual or what i get in perth..

@louisbosco - how is the GTR to drive?!?!
-
@PSB mate, it was amazing. definitely an experience. the sount of that exhaust is lovely. the acceleration is brutal once the boost kicks in about 4000rpm. it simply just goes. i'm amazed by the road holding during corners as well. i have some videos doing an uphill run on mt fuji because i was the first car to enter pushing it about 50-60% only though as the roads were a little wet. but i first need to learn how to upload videos. maybe someone could recommend a video hosting site? youtube or something else?
@Snowy i'm starting to get into v60 filter coffees. the name of pour over and chemex is beyond me right now, but if it's filter i'll have it. i know you're mostly drinking chemex right?
-
Most of the places I linked you to specialise on/in filter coffee BTW :). It's what Japan is best known for in the larger coffee scene AFAIK too.. Pour over == another name for filter. Chemex, again the same, just another 'brew method'. I bounce between Kalita Wave and Chemex depending on week day vs weekend :). Enjoy your time, look forward to seeing what you get up to!

@Snowy Thanks mate. i actually read it a moment ago and realised it was you who wrote it. great write up there mate. i'll be sure to check them out and share the photos and thoughts.
-
@louisbosco - that is awesome! I'd love to drive one. There's a BMW dealership by my house. Someone must have traded in a GTR. I might have to try to talk them into a test drive.
Great stuff! Your trip looked (looks) excellent. Have fun!
-
@louisbosco you and your GTR made onto the Hachioji staff blog:
-
@FurattoHeddo Thanks for the link. i'm humbled that of all the customers, they'd mentioned me…
anyway onto day 3 and 4. some photos from the other day going up fuji and the visit to meiji shrine.
Drove from my hotel to tokyo. Aimed on taking the Subaru line up to the 5th station. The roads were closed the last time i was here, so i was really hoping it would be open this time. And it was! First in line, waiting for the roads to open at 0900...
headed back down towards lake kawaguchiko area as well, but the ropeway up this hill, where you can see mt fuji from afar was closed. was content with being up the mountain anyway. winds were pretty strong and cold, but the views were worth it.

Moving on.. i visited meiji shrine the next day and went to akihabara. didn't really take much photos around akihabara. there amount of people was just crazy..
Close up of the denim i took on the train. Rather hairy that recent pairs i've been wearing… Also more food pictures to come next.. Had to pay another visit to little nap coffee stand as they were around the area..
retook the photo above, more satisfied with it the second time around
my attempt at a sun star.

FOOD
came across this in akihabara's sex shops… Denim condoms anyone?
had a go at sigma's 50mm f1.4 in akihabara. I really love the softness of this prime lens they've made in comparison with the same model from canon. this has been a thought on my mine if i should get it… anyone with experience with this lens?
and thanks.. going to yokohama now..

Great pics @louisbosco . Really enjoying this thread lately.

@Snowy Cheers. the drive up was pretty good. nothing like that in Perth. i use to go up to Cameron highlands in malaysia when i was in singapore to do uphill runs and that was very challenging. it was quite a short run, did the uphill run in about 19/20mins. either that or i was going a little too fast. The run up is not that challenging, beginner to low medium difficulty.. i counted about only 5 or 6 hairpin turns for this subaru line route. there's some pretty views and vantage points that are on the way up accessible only by car i presume.

Here are a couple of videos while i try and find that lost full video of the full run. hopefully gopro didn't override it.
