IHSH-21-BLU - 10oz Selvedge Chambray Work Shirt - Blue
-
Since I've been looking to add more work shirts into my quiver, I was lucky enough to move my XL 13 and slip into an XXL 21. Very happy with the fit.
Some of my favorite details:
The clean pocket stitching
The selvedge line
These cool button backs
And the triple needle body stitching

Do you know if this is the original version of the 21? I thought the plastic backing of the button is removed for the newer iteration of this shirt.

I did acquire it through the second hand market, so In sure it's at least a few years old. Although, based on the color and crispness of the chambray, the button stitching, and the current state of the stamp on the inside, it's hard to tell how old exactly as it's pretty mint.

@Giles (or anyone) is there any difference between the 10th anniversary edition of this shirt and the "normal" one other than the patch on the anniversary edition?

Thanks for the info @Giles - may I ask what was problematic about the button backs? I mean, I see some things that some people might get frustrated with, but overall I think they serve their purpose.

Thanks dude! Work shirts def fit my frame better, although I do love snaps - oh the struggle haha

Aren't the half westerns (13) and works (21) basically the same cut though? Or am I wrong? I thought I saw Giles and others post that the half westerns really aren't any slimmer than the works.
Do you notice a difference in the cut between the 13 and the 21? I have the 21 in indigo and black but I've considered picking up the 13 as well but I probably won't if it is cut the same as the work shirt version (21).
-
If the 13 is noticeably slimmer in the body than the 21 then I think I will pick one up. I love me some snaps!

I had the 13 in XL and the measurements were as so:
This XXL 21 measures as this:
Although they are seemingly identical, the 13 was not comfortable for me to wear, where as the 21 is quite comfy

I can definitely see where the 13 is more of a work inspired cut than a true western since the 13 was indeed more roomy in the "belly" area than say my 93 in the same size. The lighter fabric on the 93 could be why i feel more "mobile" in it although the measures were "similar."
Thanks for the heads up about the buttons falling off. I'm so OCD about buttons that I usually go ahead and reinforce on all my workshirts right off the bat.
-
@Appfaff thanks for those measurements, I really do appreciate it. I'm mainly looking for the waist measurement on the two though. If the 13 is trimmer in the waist than the 21 than I'm probably going to cop one.
-
I didn't measure the waist before I sold the 13, but the size charts on IHUK are very indicative of a slightly smaller waist on the current run of 13s compared to the same size on the current runs of 21s, although it also looks like the "opening" on the 21 is smaller than the 13 - which is more typical of westerns in my experience - westerns usually feature a slimmer "waist" (smallest part of the shirt) with a slight fluting from the waist to opening, where the workshirts more more boxy, meaning less "fluting" of the opening from the waist.
Sorry it that was confusing haha

no it totally makes sense, and I agree.
Thanks man.
