IH-301S

Got my 301s hemmed by Tyler and Rain from Indigo Proof in PDX. - I highly recommend their services, which were easy, convenient and very thorough!
I took the inseam from 36.5 to 33. I wanted a little room for stacking and I didn't want to cut out all the taper. I probably could have gone 32 and been happy but I dig the cut even more now.
Cheers,

These are looking great. I bought mine in SENY and had them hemmed for stacking to 34" but should have gone shorter. They're my first IH and the pair I've worn most so I love them, but I always regretted not sizing down as they've ended up with a 38" waist and a 13´5" thigh. They're my carpentry/DIY/drinking beer/watching footie/playing Xbox jeans now
Can I ask how tall you are @Appfaff ?

Hey dude, I'm 6'1
Hope that helps!

Nice one [emoji1417] it's always helpful to know these things. We're kind of a similar size so I can get a decent idea of fits etc. I'm 6" and about 220lbs.
You're 301's look really good at that length. Need to find someone up my way who can hem XHS. I didn't learn from earlier mistakes with the 301's and ordered 34" to stack again. 2" of stacking is just not necessary

@neph93 - yep sounds like we are similar! As of yesterday, I'm back to 100KG (I was 102-103KG when I got the 301s) - not a big difference, but we have 6 week old twins, so trying to lose the baby weight and any change is progress to me!
I am a weightlifter, so I am more "dense" in the lower half of my body so these are 38s. In realty, I should have hemmed them to 31.5 and called it a day, have a bit of a dreak in the denim, but no real stacks, but the taper would have been almost entirely cut out and I wear a size 9.5US shoe, so 9" leg opening don't really do me any justice.
I could have handled the thigh, knee and waist of the 36, but the rise would have made them unable to button or pull up over my "rear" on me. Im already cutting it close with these, but I love the silhouette of the leg so much, I'm making them work. Plus, they are nostalgic for me as a super thrashed pair of 301s was my first introduction to IH denim back in 2009 when I joined some internet forums. Been hooked on the cut, color and "culture" of the cut since then.
I',m tempted to grab a pair of the 555N just so I can have a lighter weight, higher rise version as well, since the 301N don't go to a 38 (and I tried the 36… they didn't work lol).
You should post up more pics of yours - they were starting to look great in your last photos!

@neph93 but we have 6 week old twins
Yeah, I have a 5month old baby in the house, and done little to no lifting the last 8 months. So I hear you. I'd say 96kg is my optimum weight, so I have some work to do. I generally find a starting measurement og 35" in the 21oz works for me. Pants need to end up around 37" to be comfortable for me. But I have to be careful with thigh measurements so anything under 12,6" is a no-no. It makes fitting a challenge but the IH crew always see me right in the end.
@neph93 I',m tempted to grab a pair of the 555N
Word! A pair of 555's are up for me too soon. Maybe the 555N's. I have the 555-01 in the 21 oz and love them although I sized down and they're a little snug at the mo. when I get back to 96kg I'll be good ;). It's actually a great fit for bigger guys, who also aren't the tallest.

For sure. I always rely on my 3 year old iphone which has an awful camera. So I take pics then don't post 'em. Need to get my SLR out and take some proper pics. I'll see what I can do on the weekend!

People say that cuffs don't work with the 301 cut… But I beg to differ.
Just doing my best to keep this thread alive lol

@Appfaff Those look great on man! I think the length you went with makes perfect sense for how you're wearing them! 301s can definitely make a cuff work well in the right circumstances!
-
Thanks @tmadd - I like the length as well - The 301 might not be the perfect fit for me in the top block (i could have stood some extra rise in the back lol, but it's a dream from the thigh down.

Figured I'd do my best to keep this thread alive before it gets too hot to wear these lol

These are a few years old now. They've been repaired once in the knee and crotch by Kate at SEPDX and she did an awesome job(I think she's moving home to Virginia though). Looks like I'll have to fix that knee again.

Those looks beyond awesome riff!!

First pair of Iron Heart's!…301N from SESF.
Think I've finally found the right fit, room enough in the thigh, a narrower leg opening, and a mid rise that is just about right (always have trouble with the low rises). Would have also tried the 555's if they had them, but this is the only slim fit IH they stock.
As these are already a one wash, no soaking required, just put em on, and I'm on my way. I think I'm gonna like these.

Those look great @GiorgioOrwell! My favorite IH.
-
Thanks @henry_david, it took me a while (and too many $$) to stumble upon this fit!
-
Wow, that is an amazing fit!

Exactly two years ago today, I put on my first ever pair of Iron Heart jeans, a pair of 301S, newly purchased from, and hemmed by SENY. I would wear them for my flight home to Norway from New York.
For the past year or so I'd been slowly getting into good denim after first being turned onto Hiut Denim, then to Livid Jeans who were making jeans by hand from Japanese and American Selvedge here in Norway. I'd decided that my trip to NY would see me buying my first selvedge from a proper Japanese brand so before travelling to NYC I'd researched a number of brands available from BiG and SENY. IH were of course amongst them and I was interested in trying on the 666 and BB's. Upon reaching SENY I was a bit disappointed to find that the 666 and BB's I tried on didn't "wow" me straight away. At that point the salesman (Thomas?) took out the 301's and I fell in love.
What I know now is that the fit that was great then and there would be loose and baggy a few weeks later, but at the time I was smitten. Those jeans, despite loosening up as only the 21oz can, and being hemmed too long, have been constant companions for the last two years and I love them for that. They were also my introduction to the wider world of Iron Heart, and I love them for that too. I´m only slightly ashamed to admit that I've become something of a (42 year old) fan boy over the last two years, no thanks to this forum. I have started forcing myself to mentally catalogue the IH I own before making yet another purchase in order to make sure I only order things "I need" (that's "need" in the first world sense of the word, obviously). I now know lots more about IH, their denims and fits, what works and how to buy. I have a wardrobe full of denim, shirting, vests, t-shirts etc, all bareing the IH brand.
My 301's were soon replaced by a snugger pair of 555's as my 1st choice jean, but that really marked the start of their journey properly. Good jeans only reach their true potential when you stop giving a shit and just start wearing them. The 301's became my "round the house" jeans (lounging, cooking, DIY, fixing, playing with the kids, hiking etc), and last summer I built a veranda and a glorified shed in them. Over the last two years they've been worn about 200 times, washed about four times, (once on 60C as they were extremely dirty which fekked the patch). They have a decent hole in the back of the thigh from an exposed screw tip and the hem is shredded at the back of both legs. The crotch gave out completely after their glorious summer of carpentry and was re-built by my local seamstress, who is always amazed when I bring her things from Iron Heart. She coos over the quality and design, and frets that she won't manage to do a good job on such heavy fabric.
They are like the proverbial pyjama bottoms now, soft, loose, airy and comfy. I look forward to taking them to my parents house in Spain this summer where I'll put them on every morning and loaf around in them and a pair of flip-flops until it gets too warm and time for the swimming pool.
Here are some pics anyway. Not high contrast, "sick fadezzz, brah", and not really "vintage" fading either. Just somewhere between well-used and fairly battered. I'm also shite with a camera so these don't do them justice; but you get the idea. Happy birthday jeans!
