Watches - another OCD problem
-
Have you taken a look at the new Sea Dweller @Finn666? It might be an alternative to the Submariner, if you're looking for another option.
-
@QuantumMechanic that Deep Sea is gorgeous.
I took a look at a boutique only limited edition Memovox last year with a blue dial. It's not got the diving touches of yours, and I prefer the Deep Sea design.
Really like that Memovox. I have my eye on a Jaeger Master Calendar. No dealers near me though.

i really like that gmt master 2 but then i'm probably bias to that..
-
If anyone wants some watch porn, the Hodinkee shop has a 1950s mil-spec Fifty Fathoms with a bronze case in stock.
Unfortunately they're asking $65,000 for it. Sorry @Giles.
There's also a very cool Rolex King Midas. I've got a soft spot for radical 1970s cases.

I d choose the gmt!
i really like that gmt master 2 but then i'm probably bias to that..
Nothing to choose between them really.
Both fantastic watches.
Just down to personal taste.
I'm more of a GMT fan.thanks a lot guys, that's the one i'm searching chrono24 for back and forth ^^
so if you find one in great condition for a decent price, feel free to pm please. thanks!@louisbosco : post a pic or two mate will ya?

I've had a GMT master ll since 1991 that I've now given to Jules, who loves it and wears it well. Gorgeous watch that came into its own whilst I was flying in the RAF.

When Rolex released the updated GMT Master II in 2005 it should have been called the Master III.
All the cosmetic changes make it a different watch, in my opinion, a pretty ugly one in comparison to its previous designs.
The typeface on the bezel reminds me of my blind great grandmothers landline phone…
-
@Finn666 sorry, probably the worst photo. only realised now after taking a quick snap earlier today at work.. my skin tone just blends everything in with my wallet..
edit: fixed the photobucket problem..
-
^^ same strap. different watch.
-
I dunno I'm partial to the GMT > (black) Sub. Whilst the SD > GMT. That being said, it's my .02 that the GMT is the nicest designed modern-day Rolex. The Hulk is the nicest of the submariners, though.
-
I prefer @QuantumMechanic's Jaeger to the GMT, but my watch tastes aren't entirely Catholic.
Were I buying a Rolex, it'd probably be the Air-King or Explorer.
Incidentally, the new Sea Dweller that I highlighted yesterday has the new generation Rolex movement, which has a longer power reserve (70 hours versus 48 hours), and is more resistant to magnetism. The downsides are that it's more expensive, and has a 43 mm diameter, which might make it too big.

thanks rocket. the moment i saw the strap, i knew it was the one. i have another camo, like woodland camo but it didn't quite fit compared to this sand camo..
well come on QM, the best looking sub has to be a red sub..
anyway, a random questions guys, thoughts on rolex servicing? it just crossed my mind that i haven't serviced it once since 4 years ago, or maybe i had just once..
-
If i didnt had a marriage to pay for id buy a pinion watch right now. I dont like watches in general but they look so great. Cant stop looking at them.
-
I agree! I was more thinking of modern-day rolex watches and budget friendliness for Finn666.

This little Frenchie wouldn't stop chewing my Panerai. Total cutie.
I had to pull my wife away because she was about to by that bulldog puppy in the back. He was awe$ome, but simple rule: people must out number the animals
-
curiously as i thought of it the other day, i haven't serviced my rolex since i got it 4 years ago..
what are your thoughts on servicing guys? maybe @Tempvs too.. i'd love to hear what you think..
-
It's Only Watch time again! If you want to buy a unique timepiece that not even @Tempvs owns, and support a charity, here's your chance.
This Patek Philippe will sell for a huge amount. It's a one-off in titanium, which is a metal that they rarely use.
Last time a retro Tudor Black Bay sold for CHF 375,000. This time it's a Black Bay Bronze with a trip to the factory thrown in. It'll probably be expensive…
There's a Blancpain Fifty Fathoms Mil-Spec for @Giles to covet. I'm not sure if there's much different to the standard watch.
Hautlence have made a mechanical wrist pinball game. It's completely pointless, and I love it.
Montblanc are offering a green and bronze version of their Minerva chronograph. I like this a lot, and it'll look great once the case gets a patina.
There's a lot of other stuff in the list of watches. The FP Journe and MB&F are really nice, but I need to win the lottery first. The Fabergé chronograph and Hermès are slightly leftfield.
Lastly, there's a collaboration between Laurent Ferrier and Urwerk. No details, yet, but I suspect it'll be the most interesting piece in the auction.
