Luggage Bags and Packs

@mclaincausey the Azimuth duffle looks great.
My girlfriend says I can't get one because we're broke!

what about DSPTCH? i've been looking at the 3sixteen collab model. looks good, decent size.
I picked one of these up a few months ago and really really like it. Previously I was using a Goruck GR1. The 3sixteen/dspatch is a bit smaller but i find it more enjoyable so far. I can get pictures if need be.
I've even though of getting another color as a backup. [emoji23]

yeah they look very similar to the GR1. i've been looking at the Goruck for years but i couldn't find the use/need for a second bag pack. the 20L visvim i have serves all my purpose..

Bag whore that I am, as much as I lust after all the great packs out there, these two are pretty hard to beat for my use. The duffel is a Triple Aught Design that folds into its own pocket, can convert into a backpack, and is bomb and water resistant (VX sailcloth construction). Only has two mesh pockets, one external that it folds up into to be about the size of a small frisbee, and an internal one that's large, where I put dirty laundry. When I need a suit, I use a Briggs and Riley roller carry-on. I guess if I have a gap it's a large travel ruck that could support some tech, but the trip that requires that hasn't happened yet. They're clearing these out for $91 right now. https://tripleaughtdesign.com/shop/azimuth-duffel/
The backpack is an old Briggs & Riley @work model. It's on the small side, but that makes it good for under the seat in front of me on a plane and appropriate for business. It has great internal organization and durability. Would love a bit more water resistance, the pen holders are too small, and the water bottle pocket is really just a pocket, but that's about it as far as gripes go. Otherwise perfect, this thing has put my beloved Acronym 3A-5TS messenger back in the closet. Boring and practical won out over cool and modular.
Hmmm…. Azimuth duffle..... perhaps I need to pick one of these up!

Do it @Cutlasshound it's simple, but pretty damn great, and a steal at <$100

The price for the Azimuth is pretty good. I wouldnt mind getting one for a gym bag [emoji848]

It's a perfect gym bag @Anesthetist , great materials and the internal mesh pocket is good for dirty gym clothes. External is good for keys and such.

@Alex I don't know if you've found a bag yet, but Carryology posted a guide to waterproof backpacks last week.

I like the Arc'teryx LEAF DryPack best, but I don't like the price.

This post is two fold
1. Switched my luggage out to the Pelican Air 1615 case. Pretty nice. I managed to fit an entire weeks worth of stuff in it and a laptop with no issues, and was exactly at 50.0lbs
2. The reason why I could stick my laptop in there without worrying about it getting stolen required some experimentation. I’m nursing an ankle injury and didn’t want to have to hump two laptops in my backpack like I usually do (one is work, one is personal). I always travel with a firearm. So instead of using a lockbox in a suitcase like I usually do, I stuck the pistol in a small range bag and used the pelican as a lock box. Checked with Southwest and TSA a couple days before, and proceeded to the full service counter. Got my case inspected, locked it up with two non tsa padlocks and good to go.
This might be my all the time setup now.

Hi All,
I need some help here - I've been looking to buy a new leather briefcase or bag and I have no idea who makes quality pieces.
I have been told to check out the following brands:
Ghurka
Marcellino NY
Mr. LentzBut I know nothing about this world. Please let me know who makes top quality leather bags. I'm most interested in light brown to vegetable tanned bags.
Thanks

@phillyforager take a look at https://www.vermilyeapelle.com/
Never owned one of their bags but they look very good and get glowing reviews from owners on Styleforum. -
@phillyforager Lotuff Leather and Frank Clegg both do briefcases.
Lotuff tend to be more modern, and I think that they use a softer leather for some of their bags. But they're possibly a bit fussier with more pockets, pen holders, and zips. Frank Clegg use stiffer and heavier hide, are generally more traditional, and tend to have fewer bells and whistles.

I love Gurkha; they get my vote.

Finally got my Master-Piece lightning shoulder sling. Love the size, materials and that it’s made in Japan. I’m gonna use this at the State Fair tomorrow, so it’ll be nice not having a backpack this time. The shoulder sling looks and feels like an actual seatbelt [emoji1]

Has anyone ordered cheap Filson duffle from Ebay? Knockoff, factory second or real deal?

I see no reason not to trust the seller. They have 100% feedback and accept returns (with a restocking fee). When in doubt, contact the seller and ask questions.

Thanks for the answer. I noticed there is a return possibility, but since I will order it to our hotel when visiting in states I prefer not to have any hassle.

Same boat, wanted a GR1 for a while but recently picked up the Daypack by DSPTCH and it's perfect. Good size, and feels pretty well made to me. Definitely recommend it.

All this DSPTCH talk has talked me into this little beauty!
Sorry for the sideways pics!
