On Saturday night, Paulas mother and brother were whisked off to the hospital.
They both have Covid and bilateral pneumonia. They are both on 75% oxygen, Paulas mum is critical, and her brother is very poorly, but stable. 2 other member of the family have been tested positive.
Paula and I have been racking our brains trying to work out how they contracted Covid, as they hardly leave the house. Paula discussed this with a nurse this morning. She was told that supermarkets are one of the "best" places to contract Covid atm.
So people, please be careful. I was popping out to the supermarket quite a alot, as it got me out of the house. My habits will now radically change.
One other word of advice is to check that your thermometer is working. Paula's mums wasn't working properly and was indicating all OK, when in fact both her and Paula's brother had temperatures. This delayed them doing anything proactive until they were really very poorly.

That is terrible news. @Madame Buttonfly this must be awfully disturbing for you. Sending you warm digital hugs and my sincere hopes for their speedy recovery.

All the best wishes to Paula and her family, crossing fingers for a fast recovery!

@neph93 and all out there who I know will be sympathising, thank you.
It truly has been a surreal and horrible couple of days, this dreadful virus (that many of us became a little complacent about) has just hit the heart of my family with my Mum and younger brother both seriously ill in hospital. My older sister was the "angel of mercy" who intervened when we realised that things were getting bad (in the house where my mum, her partner and my brother live), so she's also now at high risk of being infected. All the hospital staff are being amazing. Because no-one can visit I am having regular calls (on behalf of the family) with nurses and doctors, nothing is too much trouble and they are proactively sharing information by calling me if anything changes.
Giles or I will post an update at some point. Meanwhile, all of you, please stay as safe as you possibly can and my heart goes out to any of you who are affected, or have family/loved ones affected, by Covid.

Best wishes for a quick recovery

@Madame Buttonfly You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. I’m sure that most of us agree, @Giles could you give her a big hug from all of us.
-
Thank you all for your good wishes and kindness (that means you too @Giles x x x)

Man guys, I am so sorry to hear this @Madame Buttonfly - please know we are all thinking and praying for your entire family.
-
I’m also hoping for a full recovery for your family. It’s really hard when you can’t be there to see and comfort them. @Giles you said it right. I leave work on lunches during the day and go to the grocery store for 1’s and 2’s just to get the blood flowing and a change of scenery.
It’s not a reason to increase exposure to Covid.

(that many of us became a little complacent about)
I see this so much and just shake my head..people don't seem to take it seriously for some reason.
Sending prayers and a speedy recovery to your family.
