Iron Heart Products - What do you think we should make?
-
That's a great idea with the Sonder and/Simmons Bilt collab.
I hadn't seen SOP's offerings but i just had a look, they seem like nice Japan built hats.
I have very little self confidence issues, but I struggle sometimes with the "trying too hard" aspect of a nice hat and i really shouldn't.
If there was an Iron Heart one, I'd wear Whatever it ended up being with pride.
Regarding the Taylor Stitch, they sure look nice but too many things ahead of it on my list of "needs".

@jordanscollected - I dipped my toe into the hat world with the straw stetson this summer, and aside from a few early morning wears, my wife makes fun of me when I wear it, so it just kinda looks cool in my closet..
I did want 2021 to be the year of embracing some more "western" things in my life - as I finally came to the realization that I'll never move back to texas, but can always embrace my past
long story short, I'd love to be able to rock a western or Felt Open Road and having it blessed by G would make it worthwhile for sure!
-
were on the same thought process in this. I know a few others on here who would be too.
it doesn't make my desire any less now that my wife and I are deep into Yellowstone.
-
AND you actually ride horses, tend to a barn, and have land… I see no reason you should NOT have a few western hats around @jordanscollected
-
I have horses, I tend the barn, soon I will have land of my own. If a hobby farm comes on the market that wasn't built for a family with 6 kids, we will be good. It may take building a barn home of our own though.

I've been trying to buy a Stetson straw hat recently but they've been out of stock in my size.
Rock that shit, though. I think the thing about most hats is you just have to own it. If you look like you're worried about how it looks, it'll show
But yeah, if you have horses, you can definitely wear one.
EDIT PS: just imagine how cool my avatar Baldwin would look with a cowboy hat
-
I had one of those plastic cowboy hard hats on a job. I didn't feel like I was able to successfully pull it off.
-
Well, to be fair, a plastic hat is a real tall order. Unless you're Devo.
-
LMAO

Check out Cavenders - they have their own VERY basic straw open road and it’s like 1/2 the cost of the ones with all the weaving on the Stetson site.
If you need me to send you one, I’ll be by a Cavenders store this weekend - just shoot me your size

Thanks, man — that's super nice of you to offer! I have a Cavenders a couple miles away from my house, right next to my regular grocery store. Might pop in and take a look. Been trying to figure it out — the one I like is the Spartan, which is super basic. I think the one on the Stetson site is a newer edition of it, because the quality is 10x vs the 6x one on Cavenders' site, so for whatever reason I figured I might hold out until I can find the slightly better quality one (afaik they're basically low and lowest end, respectively).
-
yeah, 6X are the entry level models @popvulture - the felt i believe goes to 6x or 10x and then the really like 1,000 dollar hats at 100X or something like that.
I have the basic $75 open road straw from the Cavenders line, and aside from the higher crown than is featured on the felt versions, It's nice. I did have the reform the crown in the store to make it a hair lower. I will say, the straw do happen to have the edged curl, where I actually like the super flat brim.. so one annoying thing I have found..
-
Oh yeah man I'm thinking something for hot weather, so definitely not felt (even though I love the way those look). I also like the curl — not like a Sheryl Crow taco hat haha, but ya know… Texas rancher vibes. Basically Michael Gira style motivation as I age into my 40s
-
then it sounds like the 6x straw hats should be your jam

Codura Outer, Recycled Down filled, Fleece Lined, Mountain Parka.

@Giles lol that sucks… perhaps @summ3rhays can assist seeing as he lives in the great state of Utah?
I can always send you a subpar stetson if it makes you feel better
-
-
@Giles - i like that they blatantly say it "For those with champagne tastes…...And champagne budgets."
Beautiful hats - they would fit in very well in my neck of the woods!
