Fraudsters

I’ve had a couple of reports of user accounts that are obviously spammy/scammy starting to direct message people on the forum. The content is flirty/suggestive and asks users to switch comms to email.
This is probably a new tactic to avoid the moderating that happens when scammers post on threads. We can zap those guys quickly. In order to keep the forum as «clean» as possible, if you recieve a shady DM, please message me with the content of the DM and the username of the sender.

Just wrote an E-Mail to Graham with a screenshot of a shitty message that I received.

While I’m sure @Graham will fix it, best to let him take care of customers and their orders. That is the really important work. If the sender was «shandi23» I’ve just zapped «her».

Got messaged by someone called jjackson this morning saying to email michaelmckemie51@gmail.com for shirts. Had a back and forward before realizing this fellas isn't on the forum and some strange messages. jjackson seems to have just joined today.
-
Yep definitely a scam got emailed pics of shirts other people have sold in the past.

It’s probably been mentioned many times but it’s sad that this topic even exists. I hate that I look at everything now with the thought that it could be a scam. What’s worse is that I think of my now 1 year old son and what he will have to navigate. I love that this forum finds these “people” and shuts them down even if just for a little while.

Thanks Giles. And yes this is pretty sad. It took me off guard. It was only when I started asking questions in the email and I clearly wasn't speaking to a denim head that I looked back at the original message. I've only been a member since the beginning of the year and I've found the community to be pretty amazing so it sucks that one has to be vigilant for this stuff.

Dear all,
Dear IH enthusiasts,Currently, there is a wave of selling scam regarding IH items happening in Germany via the online platform "Kleinanzeigen" (former "EbayKleinanzeigen").
IH items are proposed at very low prices, sellers only accept PayPal Family and Friends, and rip you off. Of course, the items are never sent and your money is lost.Examples of sellers´ names are/have been:
Ro624; Victoria, Marc, Philipp, etc.
These are accounts from people who are usually long-standing members of that particular marketplace with good evaluation (that most likely have been hacked).Kleinanzeige has deleted numerous accounts, but new ones pop up regularly.
Currently, I see one such item: https://www.kleinanzeigen.de/s-anzeige/iron-heart-herren-jeans-hose-dunkelblau-w34-l36-wie-neu/2659519451-160-9482
Please beware!
Have a good day.
