IH-888S-21 - 21oz Selvedge Denim Medium/High Rise Tapered Cut Jeans - Indigo

With a natural 35.5" waist, I'm torn between size 35 and 36 in the 21 oz. 888S. Suggestions appreciated.
In terms of fit preferences, I'm hoping they end up comfortable and slightly relaxed (but not sloppy or loose) as opposed to tight or trim.
Thanks,
JohnI am 35.5 as well.
Size 35 works well for me. -
I was in Self Edge today. They were out of the 888S 21oz. in size 36, but I tried on the same size in the 888S-14oz. – the fit was perfect. While tempted, I'm still leaning toward the 21oz. (or even the heavier UHR).
For those familiar with both denims, would sizing be the same (i.e., 36) or should I size down to 35 in the 21oz. due to the likely stretch?
-
Overall the UHR is running ‘bigger’ but that’s more for the allowance for shrinkage. I have a 555 xhs and and a 555 uhr in the waist they are fairly the same but overall the 555 is ‘bigger’. So my advice would be to size for the waist in the UHR for the one that will fit you directly out of the bag cause it will stretch back to pre soak measurements in the waist.

First fit with these bad boys. A bit snug in the waist for sure but looking forward to the stretch.

Fear not! There will be stretch. Very sharp outfit.

Looks good everywhere else.
As for the waist, my tag-34s started at 33.6 inches, and they shrink back to that after a wash. When still new, they took a couple of days to fully stretch out to a comfy 35 inches. These days, they take a matter of hours to stretch back to that after a wash.
I'm confident that you'll get any stretch you need based on my experience.

New to the Ironheart brand with the 888S-21 being my first pair. Two weeks in and I have never had an easier break in process. The only break in was really getting used to a pair that actually fits at the waist. With that being out of the way, these could be easily slept in.
This is an interesting cut and a far departure from my previous purchases of slim fit cuts that are too loose in the waist and too narrow in the thigh.
A big shout out to Ross Phillips ( @Ross ) at Ironheart for helping me through the purchasing process. That level of attention and customer service has guaranteed a happy repeat customer.

Thanks @Heavy_blue
Putting these on three years ago at Statement was a great move. I literally wanted to convince myself I didn’t need a pair of Iron Hearts.
Fast forward to now and I’m knee deep in the rabbit hole with three 888 bottoms and a few more other pieces than planned

Just got these today. Ordered online. I was originally going to go for a 33W. Based on recommendations here I sized down to 32. A bit snug in the waist. Hope to get some of that stretch. Most fits suffocate my thighs but the measurements on these are very nice.

@weftyarn i’ll think you did a great move by convincing yourself to buy IH 🥳

Today was a good day!
A new pair of jean and as a bonus I got a IHJ-86-blk to match.
On Wednesday it’s time for a hot soak and then break in period will start. Guess these will be like a walk in the park if I compare to my 555xhs.
