IHM-33-OLV - Oiled Cotton M-65 Jacket - Olive

What is the weight of the cotton - 12oz, 14oz, 17oz, ?? An earlier post stated lighter than sateen, but exactly how heavy is that? Thanks!

Hey all, love this jacket, and I'm looking for some advice on fit. I usually wear Large IH UHF. I'd be wearing this jacket with a tshirt and a UHF underneath. Is large going to do it for me, or would it make more sense to move up to an XL? Thoughts?
Large for sure. I’m an XL in shirts and would wear large in this.

Very happy with this purchase, size large.

I have the black sateen, so I had no intention of purchasing this one. Then I tried it on…and was unable to convince myself it wasn't worth adding this one as well. I love the weight, it's a bit lighter than the sateen, and I find the fit really works well for me. I'm usually a XXXL in the UHF, and a XXL in any of the jackets - this one was similar to the other coats as the XXL fit me perfectly.
Not sure I'll be able to keep a straight face when the wife looks at it and says "Is that new?..."

The only right answer is, “No.”

Possibly prefixed by “This old thing”?, and finished off with “Had it for ages”.

This I picked up at Sacred Dog / Berlin. I did size up from L to XL, to have some space for an UHF or a pullover.
The yarn is oiled before weaving. The fabric feels normal, not at all like a subsequently waxed fabric.
Great stuff, Feel protected …
Many thanks to Shane for the patient advice.

@ Guzzi
What are your general measurements? Waffling between an XL and a XXL and it'd be helpful to see where you're at being happy with the XL you got. Thanks!

@Watty
I waffle between L and XL, L in denim shirts, XL in UHFs.
I tried on the deck jacket, I would also prefer XL. -
Thanks for the insight, appreciate it!

I'm XXL in most shirts work and western , some western have to go XXXL as some are just smaller.
Tried to XL in this length etc was fine but felt like a straight jacket around the upper chest , have the XXL coming today. Another really nice piece in the flesh that pics again hard to capture the subtle details of this beauty. -

Also curious about this, in addition to the weight of the IHM-27 sateen.

I did buy the black version of this and am not disappointed in the least. Still not sure of the weight, but I’d guess somewhere between 14-17 oz comparing to my denim & duck jacket & vest. However, it is lined which adds to the weight. This a great jacket IMO - glad I pulled the trigger.
The black was posted with slightly smaller dimensions than the olive. I normally take a small in UHFs and found the size xs in this to be perfect - fitting comfortably over a UHF and still providing a slim fit, if that’s the look you’re going for - or can possibly size up to UHF size for a looser look.

A standard Ventile L24 fabric is 200gsm, which is almost 6 ounces. Private White uses 250gsm Ventile for their rainwear, which is slightly over 7.
Waxed cottons for outerwear are usually between 6oz. on the lighter side (PWVC's current Twin Track), 8oz. towards the middle (3sixteen's Stadium jacket), 10oz. moving towards the heavier side (Corridor NYC's x Division Road's Martexin Army duck M-65), or 12oz. at the heaviest (PWVC x Division Road's Archive Twin Track in British Millerain).
So your guess is probably spot-on, assuming the waxed fabric Haraki-san chose is middle-of-the-road.
