IHDR-502-OLV - 11oz Cotton Whipcord Cargo Pants - Olive
-
Anyone have some comparison notes on the 11oz Cotton Whipcord to the 17oz Cotton Duck? Like breathability, does the 11oz make it more bearable in hotter temperatures or does the whipcord's tight twill make it less bearable in hotter temperatures?
On a separate note how do people enjoy the double knees?

And duck is hotter / less breathable than twills like denim, pound for pound. Neither of these is great for hot weather.
Though I do have some whipcord Levi’s that are probably 12oz or under and quite good for warm weather.

All my pants are Tag 30 in 888. I wear a 30” in Denim and 30.5” in Duck, with the goal of a 31” post stretch. With the expectation of no stretch, and people’s suggestions to wear relaxed I got a 31.5”. It allows me to (a) wear a bit lower, without low rise flashing issue, (b) easily accomodate a full bladder, and wear with a black nylon belt. (Though if I had got these in my regular post stretch of 31” it would have been perfectly fine imho). Given what previous posters have said of the possibility of some small decimal point level of waist shrinkage and no level of stretch, I think I’ve got an okay sizing.
I don’t typically wear belts, though I think a black nylon belt suits the olive military style cargo pants. The zip fly works great with a belt to allow easy relief without having to undo the belt. Additionally the high front rise accommodates a nice long fly, giving ample room for business.
I love the pockets! They are quite deep. Fits a phone, or fits my whole hand (flat) plus wrist. I really like how the pocket bag is a thick material, it feels nice on the fingers and suits the rest of the pants (being heavy / over engineered / military style).
A subtle point that I really appreciate: the pocket bag is one piece of material that is folded. So the inside part (so where your thumb touches and pointer finger touches) has no seam.
I put my wallet in one cargo pocket and phone in the other. I then use the regular pockets for my hands. This feels great and is so nice when you want to put your hands in pockets but don’t have pockets on the jacket/shirt. Also the way that the back of the cargo pockets is sewed shut makes me confident my wallet & phone won’t slip out when sitting. (Means you can’t do that thing of putting a water bottle in the cargo pocket, but I rather the protection sewing the back provides).
Given the above point, this will be a core part of my rotation. As the cargo puts some variation into the mix that the duck five pocket just can’t (the duck IS worth the purchase for the material and colour, but I would recommend this instead if you had to choose only one extra pair to go along with your jean (and if work permits cargos, and if you like cargos)).
Due to the shorter inseam and my taller height I’ve gone with one small cuff and some slight stacking, I like how it looks.
The brass snaps look and feel stunning, I am a tad sad my IHSH-326-BLK don’t have those too.
My only nit pick is that I think the double knee material should start an inch lower and end an inch lower. Maybe I just have unusually long thighs and short shins?
Given it’s the middle of winter right now: I do not notice it being hot outside, however I did notice it’s certainly warmer in the office than the 17oz duck.

Sorry for the birks and the leopard print socks. This is the in house elevator haha.
Showing off the IHSH-338-BLK too. Both the best fitting ever.Enviado desde mi iPhone utilizando Tapatalk

Just got those in, and love them! Alex found the smallest tag 36" and they work well (in fact should not be any smaller). Best customer service I ever had in 20 years of online shopping! Could have gone with 1cm less on the hemming.. but can live with it. Too warm for now in DK..

@Tobi Man those look fantastic and the fit is spot on. I dig the green on green too
@Dmart I ended up finding a pair but had some trouble making the waist work after my waist expanded a bit during Covid. I’m back on track though and should be wearing mine once it cools off. They are awesome cargos and very substantial (like all IH). Grab a pair!

I wish I would’ve sized up on these. TTS was never comfy how I wanted them to be. I’m looking forward to the tweaked cut on the fall cargoes.

Same with sizing up. The fabric is “unstretchable”…and I’ve tried. “Tweaked cut”? I’m listening

Is this the same material from the olive whipcord cargo shorts? Thanks!

They are both whipcord.
In terms of weight the pants are heavier:
- IH-726-OLV = 7.4oz
- IHDR-502-OLV = 11oz
They are also not the same color; I have both, and can confirm the website pictures are accurate. The shorts are more green and the pants are more brown.
