IHM-35-BLK - Whipcord N1 Deck Jacket - Black

Thanks appreciate your comments

Arrived today. Missed out last season on the black. Picked a large. Fits perfect . I’m 190cm and 83kg for reference.
It’s my first N1 hence the question. It’s smells of old basement moist right out of the box. Is that due to the alpaca linen or ?
Cheers

I have heard critiques of alpaca smell before, especially when it gets damp. I have not personally had this experience, including with my deck jacket, but maybe I'm nose-blind.
Looks great on you @PJ !

@mclaincausey Thank you. We have 13 Alpacas living at the farm next door so I might go and sniff one tomorrow. [emoji4] The smell is definitely from the alpaca interior.

Is the black whipcord fabric the same as prior years?

Just a couple questions on sizing for this item. I'm a 37 inch chest, 5ft 10 inches in height. I'm a medium comfortable in all Iron Heart Westerns & size small in American brands. If I want to be able to layer a thick sweatshirt or UHF under this jacket, would I be best with a small or medium? I see AJ wears a medium for this jacket but then in the olive color took a small so I'm a bit confused on sizing as I'm closest to his specs.
-
@gsa215 I can wear either Small or Medium in these.
The issue I have with our deck jackets is the sleeve. I would not be able to layer under a Small so you'll want to go Medium if you're wearing a thick sweat/UHF underneath.
I am basically 'between' sizing with there being no ideal but if I 'had' to buy one I would go Medium across the board.
(I've updated the olive post to reflect this)
Any questions let me know!

Newbie looking to get into Iron Heart and would like everyone's feedback. The IHM-35 in medium seems to be sold out everywhere, I missed my chance during Black Friday as I was too slow to pull the trigger. I've seen the older IHM-29 being available on eBay and was wondering if there are significant differences. Some on the forum and the product description mentioned an additional liner for the collar and "tweaked the pocket placement very slightly." What does that actually mean?
Are there big differences? Should I buy the IHM-29 or wait it out? Your feedback would be appreciated.

@happycamper I think you can safely purchase the IHM-29 and get the same amazing jacket as the 35.
The interlining is an added windproof layer in the jacket between the wool and the whipcord The IHM-35 adds that interlining to the collar portion too. I have the N1 deck vest, and the collar is super warms when buttoned up up already, i don't think you'll miss the extra lining in the collar.
regarding pocket placement, you could do a side by side visual and see if there's a major change that would annoy you, but they are very similarly placed i doubt you'll have an issue with it.
enjoy your Iron Heart journey

@jordanscollected thank you for the feedback. I live in Philadelphia, so it doesn't get that cold here. To your point, I don't think the extra collar lining will matter for me. The other difference I notice is that the IHM-35 has alpaca lining in the pockets, does the IHM-29 have that as well?

@happycamper it sure does via the description. Get on it these things are amazing.

Howdy folks, I'm eyeing this jacket down with the sale in mind...I read up on both pages (the other one is locked) and it seems most people go true to their size. Am I mistaken or is this generally true to go with UHF or other IH top size? I typically wear XXL or XXXL depending on how I want to wear my shirts. I'm leaning more towards XXL with the 35 but still want to layer under if needed. Only one left of each size so I'm a bit nervous waiting until Friday.

I have that Jacket in XXL. That's my usual UHF size, and I can wear a UHF in that size underneath with no problem. There's a couple of photos of me in the WAWT thread. I can even fit a 14oz hoodie under there and fully zip it up.
I do have XXXL UHF, but I usually wear them with the 11oz underneath, which I have in XXL.
For reference: 193cm/6ft3, 95kg/209lbs. Wide shoulders, fairly sporty.
Going by seeing you in your new Ship John jacket from the auction, which would have run a tad large on me, too - I'd say you should go XXL.
