IHM-37-ODG - Oiled Whipcord N1 Deck Jacket - Olive Drab Green
-
Getting my fitpic game up to speed, with a much better selfie setup with my M11. This N1 has been the best winter jacket I've had, and I'll def say it's more versatile in more temps than you'd think. Was great this morning in the 20's (F) and it's been comfortable up in the mid 50s too, since it's really breathable. It's made my Storm Rider take a bit of a backseat, honestly, but this is just so good.

I’m normally a large in western and work shirts. I went medium

This pic is just with a T-shirt underneath

Second IH N1 because I could not resist the details and color on this one and it does not disappoint! Went a size down (L) from my normal UHF (XL) and my black N1 (XL). What do you all think? Too trim or just right? Pictured wearing over a t-shirt and a UHF which is the most I would ever try to fit under it.
-
Your profile says Southern California… I presume you won’t wear it often with a flannel underneath? I have two N1 as well one in L which prefer wearing with a T and XL for layering. I am XL in UHF westerns as well. For my taste it looks quite trim… but as always that’s just my opinion. If you feel comfortable, why not. The color suits you and the combo looks excellent.

@Chap , thank you and you are correct. I live in Southern California and will most likely wear this with a t-shirt or an 11oz long sleeve T for the most part. Took another picture just wearing a T underneath. The creases where the jacket was folded (right above the pockets) for shipping seem to make it look trimmer than it feels. I suspect they will settle out on their own or with a steamer and may make it look a little more roomier even with a UHF.

Maybe you can help me, XL in UHF and L in IHSH-33, buy large? I love to layer with my denimjackets, so go XL? Measurement wise i even could fit a Medium.. so I’m confused

I'll try to help. What is your chest measurement on your 33? Anything less than 22.8" in IH shirts is too trim for my body. 23" is the sweet spot. So for jackets I have historically looked for something greater than 23". My black N1 in XL comes in at a spot above 24" and I can layer just about anything I want under it, even a thick wool sweater works under it. I would not be able to do that with this jacket pictured above. If you want to layer, I would find the jacket size that measures about .5 to 1" greater than your shirt sizes. Just my experience and that's probably not worth much given I was asking for opinions above

Perfect I would say. Spot-on sleeve length…

@Heavy_blue definitely don't go down to a medium. Your measurement isn't accounting for the alpaca lining which would make medium much too small for you.
I have a large in my N1 deck vest and it fits perfectly snug. I wear an XL in all of my IH shirting and target a 22.5" to 23" P2P in shirts. You could get away with a large for a nice trim fit or a have a little extra room in an XL. I prefer my outerwear to fit snug to get the best insulation properties and visual.
Lastly, These N1's are made to sit at or just below the waist, so they can take a bit of getting used to where they don't feel a bit short in body length. I got over it fast and love the look now.

I'd agree with @jordanscollected , as I too have an N1 vest, plus I'm typically an XL in UHFs as well. L is what I'd personally buy (frankly the only reason I haven't bought one yet is bc I live in TX and don't think I'd get many chances to wear a full N1).
@Bums_Fan I think that looks perfect with a t-shirt underneath. PS how were you not BOILING wearing a UHF under that thing? I'm surprised you survived!

Thanks @popvulture
Haha…It's a crisp 62 F in SoCal today. Took it off right after the pictures. Heading to Kansas City next week for 10 days. Should get some proper use there.

@Nik:
@Denimdaddysloth Might be worth trying a size up while it is new and you can. I've worn mine for a couple seasons and it is pretty much the same. You might also find that one size up works because of the inner storm cuff that holds the sleeves off the wrist.
Thanks Nik, took your recommendation and sized up to an XXL. Should have it next week. Going to be selling the XL most likely on the Forum before ebay. I appreciate the feedback man.

If you've got two N1's @Bums_Fan seems like it makes sense to have two sizes, then you have more options for layering but also if your body changes or if you start wearing looser/tighter bottoms.
