RIP Filthy Mike
-
I'm pretty new around here, but Filthy is probably the first person I "recognized" as I perused the forums. For obvious reasons–his name, his look, his passion for the brand. He seemed to be in every thread I was looking at.
I saw his recent fire sale posts in classifieds and I could sense the pain. Having to give up some of his cherished items to raise money to save his truck, etc. Unfortunately he was a good size or two heavier than me and so I couldn't buy any of it, but I knew deep down inside this was a good guy going through some tough shit.
God rest his soul.

That's extremely sad to hear. Absolutely a terrible loss for his family and of course for us here at the forum. May his soul Rest in Peace.
-
So sorry to hear. I always figured I'd meet him eventually at an event. Definitely inspired my first bibs and like others will miss seeing his posts and presence.
-
Absolutely shattering. I bought my 805s because of filthy. He inspired my love of the bib. Man, he’s gonna be missed.
-
The fact that this hits strangely hard despite us having shared so very few moments of interaction and only
through this forum tells everything about what a special man Mike must have been to so many. RIP. -
Absolutely gutted to see this. My only interaction with Mike was selling him a wallet leash (maybe some WAYWT too), but as mentioned elsewhere, he's one of the forum cornerstones whose name I knew from years of lurking before joining. Always liked his style, too.
It kicks ass that he'll be wearing his favourite jeans for the viewing, and his bibs will be on show. It speaks volumes as to his passion for the brand and niche that his sister knew to reach out and to incorporate it into things.
I know there's such a thing as "caught up in the moment", but serious suggestion here to rename the IH-805 to the IH-FIL or similar.

It’s so sad to read this.. he made me wanna buy a ib denim and rock it.. with large single cuffs and everything. He spoke out of pure passion. He gave us something to remember , a lesson, Iron Heart isn’t a brand. It’s a brotherhood with people who share the same love, passion and dedication. He has shown us love, passion and dedication! Let us continue by doing it so as well! Mike.. isn’t here anymore but he took his passion with him and will make god wear a XHS!

Freeking horrible
One of the folks I talk Iron Heart with on Instagram, along with beer and cigars.
And yes, he did mostly convince me into getting some bibs down the line.
I'll definitely miss him. I'll have a beer and a mickeys in his honor.

Mike was such a thoughtful, generous, and helpful guy! I forget how we managed to exchange phone numbers, but he would text me now and then just to see how things were.
I remember he and I were eyeing this Ship John denim jacket that was about to release. When I said I couldn't swing the purchase that month, he offered to loan me the money! We hadn't even spoken offline or anything, but here he was offering to lend me cash!
He taught me a lot about shrinking and cleaning denim and always managed to make me laugh.
Fairwell, man. You'll be so missed.
-
mickeys in his honor.
Dude I can't find Mickeys anywhere! I talked to the clerk at a liquor store today in Maryland and he said his distributor doesn't offer it anymore. Mike told me he had to special order cases of the gernades from his local store.

Ouch!!! I haven't look that closely at a convenience store offerings in a while, so I guess I'd better keep lookout.
Either way, at least a beer in his honor tonight.
-
Maybe we can all wear our bibs tomorrow and post photos on here as a tribute to Filthy Mike. Would that be cool?
Absolutely do this! I don’t have bibs, but I will definitely be wearing the two jeans he sent me in heavy rotation for the next little while. I’m still so gutted. What a loss [emoji174]

Such sad news. I never got to meet Mike in person but like many I connected with him on here and had the privilege of speaking with him on some of the UHHHs. If it wasn’t for IH and the forum our paths would never have crossed, and I’m so glad they did.
For me, this is the third successive weekend of losing someone I care about. An uncle, a dear friend I have known for 20 years and now Mike. It says so much about Mike that his passing ranks alongside the other two who, objectively, I knew much better.
-
Definitely bibbin' it up tomorrow.
