RIP Filthy Mike

Many of us obviously won’t be able to make Mike’s memorial on account of being on a different continent, but if anyone wants to don a bin and drink a few beers in his honour tomorrow I’ll gladly set up a Zoom link

The Laughing Heart
Your life is your life
Don’t let it be clubbed into dank submission.
Be on the watch.
There are ways out.
There is a light somewhere.
It may not be much light but
It beats the darkness.
Be on the watch.
The gods will offer you chances.
Know them.
Take them.
You can’t beat death but
You can beat death in life, sometimes.
And the more often you learn to do it,
The more light there will be.
Your life is your life.
Know it while you have it.
You are marvelous
The gods wait to delight
In you.Charles Bukowski

I think this thread is a beautiful tribute to one hell of a guy and I hope his sister and Mom get to read it.
Like most you guys, my heart is in my feet right now.
I never got to meet Mike but talked to him by DM & IG a bit. If I had a question about a piece of clothing he had, he would shoot a youtube for me about it and usually just gushed over how amazing of a piece it was. He was a super passionate guy and always willing to help, always a nice guy. A lot of times I used to think he missed his calling in that he should’ve owned a denim shop. I think he could have made a living selling bibs and 822s alone.Mike loved these jeans and the community that came along with them and we all sure as hell loved him back. He is irreplaceable. Many thoughts and prayers for him, his family, and Pickles.

Rest in Peace Mike. I have never met someone else who was so kind and willing, unasked and unprompted, to help out other people and never want anything in return. I have so much scrap denim fabric because of Mike, and my first time meeting him he got me and Adam the Selfedge jeans hangers because of my bunny taking some nibbles at my waist band. So many of my repairs and other small sewing projects were only possible because of Mike.
Rest in peace friend

I have sent Alissa, his sister, a link to this thread and suggested she read it to understand how truly loved Mike is/was….

I never met Mike and didn’t know him personally but we chatted on IG and this forum. He was so helpful and such a kind soul. This is heartbreaking. Rest In Peace Mike.

Here’s another from Mike’s trip out to Golden. He brought me a mug and some special beers from the Coors brewery he was working at. Beers are long gone but never letting go of that mug even if it’s a Steelers mug
He also gave me a Merz heavy tee that I already cherished, a bit more now.
Love you Mike.

After reading these very sad news, I'd like to add my condolences to the many already posted.
My good thoughts are with Mike's parents and relatives, I'm sorry for your loss and wish you peace and strength.I only had a few direct exchanges with Mike, but, like likely everybody who is on this forum, I felt I knew him. He was just literally always present, a prolific poster with a most profound love of denim in general and the IH brand in particular. I always found he was generous, a good - if troubled - soul, and what I believe is called a "genuine guy".
It's terrible to lose him. He will be remembered, without any doubt, by this worldwide community to which he so extensively contributed.
R. I. P. Mike. Farewell.
