RIP Filthy Mike

Any chance of anything going to the care of Pickles?
This definitely crossed my mind — would love to know she's being taken care of, would happily donate to help out.
From what I understand, his mom and him lived together and he was taking care of her along with Pickles. I would guess his mom is taking care of Pickles but maybe his sister is instead?

I'm deeply saddened by this news. It doesn't feel right or fair.
I'm struck by a desire to honor and remember this man. I look forward to hearing more about how we the forum can contribute to his legacy.

Wow…just saw this sad news. So sorry to hear about this.....Mike truly was a kind person and was a fixture on this forum. He was definitely passionate about Iron Heart, specifically anything 25oz if I recall correctly, and he truly truly was kind, generous, and beyond polite during any and every correspondence I ever had with him on the forum. I think everyone can agree on that.
Condolences to the family, you're in our thoughts and prayers. RIP Filthy.

If i'm not wrong i think his cat Pickles died months ago.. I remember few stories on his Instagram where he said his cat was sick as fuck eating a toxic plant or something, days later (in June) he was pretty sad and commented on my cat's instagram posts that I had no idea how much he wanted to pet my cats I didn't know Mike a lot but he was a great dude for sure, reading his posts and feeling his passion for denim was very motivating, i got my bib thanks to him like a lot of members here following the evolution of his bib, he will be missed and i feel like i've lost a buddy even if i only know him through his posts… RIP Mike

Yes i think you are right, my memory doesn't go very far sorry ^^

Nice

I’m pretty sure his other cat was the one that passed. Luna? She was a tortie stray that he also really loved.

Yes, and his obituary mentioned "Michael is also survived by his precious pet kitty, Pickles"

Like everyone else on this forum I was sad to read this news. Mike was the inspiration for me to get the bibs because of all his great posts. Many others did the same. I never had the pleasure of meeting him, but we had a couple private message exchanges and some back and forth on the forum and he was always such a friendly and helpful guy. We weren’t close and he probably had many interactions like he did with me. It doesn’t matter how well I knew him, he will be missed and it’s just plain sad when someone passes away too early. When I put the bibs on to shovel the snow this week I’ll be thinking of him.

I am at loss of words. Rest in peace Mike.

Hey everybody,
Like so many of the people here, the news of Mikes passing messed me up quite a bit, he was a great member of this forum and always ready to help out with information or advice. He was also known to send out gifts to people all over the world, to honor Mikes memory @Memphisakers and I have come up with the following initiative.
“The Filthy gift”
The idea is simple: one person posts something that he wants to give away for free, only condition is that the person receiving the gift, also gives away something. Over time, it’s my hope that a lot of people will end up with a gift in memoriam of Mike.
To keep things serene (the most important thing for me is to do this out of memory for Mike) I want to keep the transactions limited to one item gifted each time. This should mean that at any time always one item should be listed here as a gift. I also would like this to be a single topic, which could result in a nice chain of transactions over time.
As mentioned above, there are almost no rules but please keep in mind that this is not meant to become an easy way to get free stuff or get rid of old crap you have lying around. Don’t sign up for items you are not going to wear or use either.
EDIT: I would like to keep things clean and have people first contact each other trough PM, once the gift is made. the sender puts a "gifted tag to …" on his reply and the new receiver can post his or her item.
Hope this can help keep things organised

This is a very moving thread. In an age when the word community has been debased through misuse, this really is one. RIP fella.

Love these pictures!! Please keep that going as long as you can… Filthy looking like a Boss out there

Oh man. It’s been a few days since I’ve been on the forum so I just saw the news. Damn, Filthy. You were a legend around here, and will continue to be for a long, long time. So sorry to hear this news. My heart goes out to his family.

I've been sitting with this for a few days not knowing what to say. Absolutely gutted to hear this news.
I'm not around much anymore, but I still swing through these parts from time to time. Mike has been a consistent source of joy and enthusiasm on the forum for a good long while. He had a real generosity of spirit. Most times I popped in, would be followed up with a kind private word from Mike, just to say hi or the help me hunt down a piece I'd been looking for. Our brief conversations always brightened my day. This community is better off for having known him.
On the grand scale of things, this seems so small, but I would've never given the 21oz overalls a shot if not for Mike. I can't really imagine working in anything else now. Truly, the filthy effect in action. Now they will always be a nice reminder of him.
Rest up Mike, and much love to all of your family.

@Mizmazzle thanks for alerting me to the fact Mike had a Youtube. It’s nice putting a voice to his name and face.
