After reading over a thousand posts I could not find the answer I'm looking for. Sorry in advance if I missed it. Can anyone tell me how the top block of the 634 compares to the 666? I have a large-for-my-size booty and thighs and, in 666, I have to buy tag size 34, even though my true waist size is ~33.5", just to fit everything in. 555 topblock is comfortable in 33, however, the taper is too extreme for my liking. I'm thinking the 634 XHS could be a great option for me in size 32 (33" actual waist) if the topblock is more like the 555 than 666. Anyone have experience with all these that can weigh in? Thanks.

666 has a tighter tigh so a more fitted top block compared to the 634. The overall cut is a tad slimmer then the 634. 634 is a through straight fit. 666 is is overall more slim kinda fit and then especially the top block! 634 is not comparable to a 555 in my opinion a way for slimmer top block. 634 is a core cut and more like a lower 888 without the taper.

@Heavy_blue Thank you! The 888 I find very roomy and comfortable in the top block. Are you saying the 634 fits like the 888 through the hips but with a lower rise?
-
@nvrp813 tigh measurements are practically the same on 888 xhs and 634 xhs. The rise is higher on the 888 that will give you just another feel to it.

The 634 is my fave IH cut but personally I’ve had more trouble nailing the fit with it than others. I’d say it’s definitely a bit roomier than the 666 in the top block, but surprisingly not as much as you’d think. 888 is more forgiving up there but alas there’s the problem you mentioned — I’d really like that cut with a wider leg opening too. Cest la vie I guess.
EDIT: I looked back and realized I misread. You were referring to the taper of the 555. 888 could be worth a look for you, for sure. If you’ve got a butt, they’ve got room.
The good news is that IH has a great return policy and they’re awesome about looking for a pair with specific measurements if you’re wanting something a little fine tuned against the chart measurements. They’re my favorite place to order jeans for this reason. Also make sure you measure the waist the IH way, as that messed me up a couple times early on.
My advice for XHS is that it fits the way you like it before washing. They shrink a little but come back up after some wear and fit comfortably. Biggest suggestion on sizing would be if they fit uncomfortably small pre-wash, use that return policy for a size up.

I feel like this is pretty accurate but I will say that difference in rise changes the feel quite a bit. Overall the top block feels a little smaller than the 888, I’d say overall sort of the middle zone btw that and the 666.

Thank you! Sounds like it could be a winner. The issue I have with the 666 is in the hips and thighs as it feels like I’m being squeezed to death, even when the waist is a little big. But the rise is nice and the knee/hem is perfect at my size (33 or 34 depending on model).
888 is extremely comfortable in the hips/thigh but I’m not a fan of how high the rise is, especially when tucking in a shirt. Also if I do a bit of walking the jeans inevitably slide down causing the crotch to ride pretty low.
777 the rise is so low half my ass hangs out when sitting. Definitely not enough back rise for my rather bulbous backside.
555 has a great top block and is comfy in the hips and thighs, but the taper to the knee is too sharp for my body type. Makes me look like a carrot. If I had longer legs though this cut would be a winner.
I have not tried the 634 or any of the other fits, but I’m determined to find my ideal IH fit in the XHS, even if I go broke in the process -
@nvrp813 sounds like a 633 would be a good fit for you.. unfortunately that’s a journey to find one of those. Maybe even the 1955 cut. They will re-run somewhere in the future i guess

A few days ago I opened up a package containing my first pair of 25 oz denim. It was definitely a little intimidating as I unfolded them, slipped them on and tried to button up. Now a few days in they feel so good. I look forward to putting them on everyday and am really enjoying the beginning of this journey.
I enjoyed seeing all the pictures of fades on here and looking forward to these starting to show a patina. -
@tody Such a pleasant surprise!!

Hah right on man...I ended up selling that pair because they were just too big for me. Thought about trying again with 634 but went with 888 and 666 and think I dig those cuts better.
-
@Oaktavia They looked hardcore on you, bru. And 888 seems positively sick, and 666 are the devils cut, right? Nice. The IH-634 black was my first pair. Bought in Tokyo. And it’s awesome to find the cuts that fit. 25oz seems to be a beast of its own. I’ve got my first pair on it’s way, thanks to the amazing @George-Homme, in a size bigger, so hopefully it’ll be a nice ride.
Enjoy!!
