IH-888-XHS - 25oz Selvedge Denim Medium/High Rise Tapered Cut Jeans - Indigo
-
I'm in! I'm guessing that since I got the 888 XHSib, and the 888s in 31 (thanks for the guidance on those 21oz, everyone. I thought I would need 32 but the 31s stretched perfectly in the waist) that 31 is the right call with these bad boys.
Gonna have the unholy trinity of the 888s.

Probably, but use this function to check, taking account of predicted shrinkage/stretch:

And when they say breaking in they mean your fingers.

@neph93 thanks! They're almost identical. Maybe slightly larger in this iteration. I think I'll prevail upon whoever I hook up with IH pre shipment and see if they can measure a pair out with a smaller waist.
@steelworker truth. Trying to get the XHSib on the first time was an adventure!

I'm surprised that this thread is so quiet!
Well, I'll report in. I got very little shrinkage on my pair. I let them soak in the hottest water I can get out of my tap for a couple of hours, drained the water, filled it again, let them soak for a couple of hours, then line-dried them. Once dry, I did another hot soak and line-dried again.
pre-soak

inseam: 32.75"
post-soak

waist: 32.0"

I haven't actually put them on yet because of how long it takes to line-dry these LOL. The voyage begins tomorrow!

It’s July and lots of folks are on holiday I think. Also 25oz denim isn’t at the too of everyone’s list in the middle of summer, perhaps?
However, I have your back. Ordered my pair yesterday [emoji23]
Good work with the documentation. Half an inch waist and length is about right with XHS. I don’t think I’ve ever had more.
-
I literally said to myself before posting, "at least I can count on Reuben to chime in."
Good man! Lots of good bottoms popping this year. I'm super pumped for the SB XHS and the duck 888 (not sure if that bird will land this year) but I had to get my hands on the 888 XHS!
Oh, I forgot to mention that I was surprised at how little the thigh shrank. I think I got like 0.4" shrink in the thigh on my XHSib.

I am dependanble like that. Also XHS and 888 are two of my favourite alphanumeric expressions [emoji23].
Yeah, that was the one that raised my eyebrows too. I sized up from my recent 888’s as I’ve put on a bit of weight, and even though I plan to lose that, I have enough slimmed down pairs, and fancy something a little more relaxed. @Graham was kind enough to find a pair that should strike a decent balance, even with the modest shrinkage you’re reporting.
They’ll be here next week, so I’ll update then with my dims.

I’m looking forward to the black 25oz releases so resisted, for now. Also, I’m leery of the higher front rise measurements. I’ll be interested to hear how y’all get on with them.

I have a touch of summer belly spread, so that front rise may be exciting for me [emoji23]

Yay! Ever since the 888 came out I've been dying to see it in XHS… I even bought the 888-XHSib, despite the black/indigo combo not being my favourite (they are beautiful though).
They arrived yesterday and I'm ecstatic to finally have them in my possession. I bought W34. I have the 888s-0d and the XHSib in w33 but they are sized down for a slimmer silhouette. I wanted these a little more relaxed though.
I measured them, then soaked for 90min in 50C water, no agitation. Here are the dims:
Dimension - Before/After
Waist - 34"/33.5"
Front rise - 12"/11.5"
Back rise - 16.5"/16"
Thigh - 12.9"/12.7"
Knee - 9.2"/8.9"
Hem - 8.65"/8.45"
Inseam - 32.2"/31.5"These seem more like an 888 as they were conceived, like my IH-888-UHR with a relaxed leg and true taper. Just what I was after. The waist started moving straight after I put them on. I also tried an approximation of @adam313 method of getting creases in early by wearing them damp and cool. There is no doubt that creases at the hip, behind the knee and at the hem came in straight away and stayed after I took them off to dry throughly. excited to see where these go.
Fit pics etc soon.

I'm 40 in a month and I told my wife i wanted nothing, but now i want these…
-
Glad you got your pair, R! And I'm relieved to see that your soak changes are in line with mine, otherwise I'd spend days trying to squeeze that last drop of shrink out of them
I've been wearing them every day since I got them. I wish I would've hemmed them shorter as I have to cuff them now. Not the worst but not my favorite look. I'll wear 'em lots and send them back to IHUK for a hem in a few months.
I'm also with you in that these are more relaxed than my XHSib. Just like you, I went one size up on the XHS vs the XHSib. I wouldn't mind if the XHS were a bit slimmer but they are crazy comfortable.

Hi All,
I need a little help here. I have here pics of both the 555 XHS (size 30 - measured to 31.7) and the 888 XHS (size 31 - measured to 31.3). I can’t decide which to go with. I’m a little worried about the thighs being too tight in the 555. I think they will relax and stretch a bit but I’m not sure it will be enough. Obviously I haven’t soaked either of them yet.
Things I like about the 555: The look of the fit. The stacks - I don’t even think I would hem these. Maybe I should wait on a restock and go up a waist size but I’m not sure that would be wise, because the waist may be too big if I do that. I’m happy with the waist on this pair.
I already have the 888s and the 888 XHSib in size 31. In both cases, I feel like they’ve stretched a bit more than I would like, especially around the knees. For some reason the 888 XHS seem to have a bit of a diaper butt thing going on here but it’s not an uncomfortable fit.
The cuffed pics are the 555 and the others are the 888. Would love some thoughts from the rest of you.

@Alex @sabergirl Thank you for the feedback. So, they will soften up in the knees then, over time? I'm also leaning toward the 555, especially since I have my other two pair of 888 fits when I want more freedom of movement.
