Wallets, Chains, and Reins

During lockdown I got into leatherworking a bit. I'd always wanted a wallet I could stick a Field Notes in and just a couple of card slots, since that is all I tend to carry in my pockets.
Took a fair bit of trial and error and a lot of time on YouTube but pretty pleased with the results. The leather is a Badalassi from Italy and the thread is from Maine.
I planned to commercialise it, as a designer I did a brand and everything but it took me wayyyyyy too long for it to be remotely worthwhile so kept it as a fun pastime.
Also made a card holder with the surplus.

Been meaning to do this for a while on the IH forum.
I had some wallets commissioned by Karl at After Midnight London. He is a sole leather craft practitioner in London and he does a fantastic job at his art. He makes heirloom quality leather pieces, that no doubt will last generations. His website is well organized and easy to navigate. Communication from beginning to end is transparent and clear. He advises as to the best “looking” and durable stitching, finishing and hardware. His prices are very reasonable - considering you will receive a completely hand built, bespoke piece. I bought each wallet at different times, and from start to finish, beginning with me initiating contact, I had my wallets inside a months time.
Both wallets are different in configuration and size. The smaller is made of a green Italian cow hide, and the larger wallet is #8 Horween CXL.
not a paid advertisement, just a keen customer!

@Autorotate these are absolutely stunning, great post

@Autorotate The rabbit hole keeps getting bigger every day.

I will be the first one to point out that wallet collecting in the dumbest thing in the world. These days - and through our fine host specifically - you can literally buy one wallet and use it for a life time.
That said, I really like opening my wallet drawer (every few weeks) and switching things up. Just like NATO straps on watches and sunglasses - variety is the spice of life. YMMV.

@Autorotate I probably have 30 but since I bought my GAH wallet the rest sit in my wallet drawer.

@RoxRocks86 shared the secret of BWeiss Leather after I spotted her beautiful wallet. I reached out wanting something similar to the GAH Navy Surplus, but with a few more features to make me feel a bit better about parting with $1.5k…
Brandon was great and worked with me to bring my design to reality. I used my current everyday wallet as a starting point and shaved some stuff away. Brandon threw in some flare of his own and switched some of the pockets to be more in line with his style, and this is what we came out with!
Shinki shell cordovan.Natural buttero interior. Left pocket carry with Japanese nickle chain swivel. Inscription inside “Rumble Young Man Rumble” (a note to my son that I use in my journal/letters to him).
I’m absolutely in love! Brandon knocked it out of the park

Absolutely gorgeous build! Love the quote & how personal it is. Looks like a “one and done, pass it down” heirloom piece w/a kick.

@Mizmazzle Thanks! He really knocked it out of the park from what I can tell in photos. It should be to me tomorrow, so I'll make a post about it!
I had it made using my current wallet as a starting point, so it should definitely fit in my back pocket.
