Almost two weeks in on a new pair and starting to get concerned with the volume above the toes. I've got the insoles out and I wasn't expecting them to stretch much in the toe but sometimes it feels like it's tightened up as the sole has started to break in and relax. I've got about the right amount of heel slip with what feels like .25" now and it fits comfortable, snug but not tight, on the instep and maybe just slightly wide overall. Again, this is without the insole, so I figured I nailed it since I can put the insole in. But the toe box height has me worried, with the insole in of course it gets much worse. Any experiences from folks here on this part of the Lou's and this leather?
Overall they're comfortable for walking miles in but start to be fatiguing pressing down on the toes when I'm standing still or sitting.

I happen to be having a very similar experience fit wise w a pair of Axebreakers. I ended up taking a wrench and tried to break in/free up the tighter area (for me, the big toe). It has loosened up some but would be curious if others have ran into this issue and how you made out in the long run.
-
@pechelman I had issues with my pair but in a different area. My issue was the instep area underneath the lower buckle. It pressed into the top of my foot and it was especially noticeable when sitting down/resting. There was a few week long window when I was unsure the boots would work. I kept with 'em though and eventually the issue went away. I know this might not help you but what I can say is even when I thought the leather wouldn't mold anymore to my feet, somehow they did. I wear them more often than not now.
The Maryam horsehide is super strong and I found it eventually gives in. Hope yours does (I think it will) too. I still haven't put my insoles. Back into either of my CXL or Maryam Lous and have had each for over a year/just under a year.

What size did you guys choose compared to Iron Rangers? I would love to grab a pair as soon as they‘re back in stock but I‘m a bit afraid to end up with the wrong size…
-
for me they fit similarly for the same size. The wesco definitely has less toe volume in its height.
the rw ir's dont work for my feet, a little too wide and a heel/Achilles area that hits in all the wrong places, but if it did work, my closest good fit in that would be a 9D and got a 9D in the mister lou after trying a 9.5D which had my heel much too loose coming out of the heel pocket entirely / 1 finger of space behind and swimming in the width.fwiw, I'm a 9C in nicks 55 last.
-
Thanks a lot for the infos! That matches with what I've read so far.
My Iron Rangers are a size 7.5 D. Since I have rather wide feet and my Iron Rangers were very tight during the first two weeks (they now fit like a glove), I think that size 7.5 E should be the right choice for the Mr. Lou’s, because the cut is supposed to be rather narrow. What do you guys think?
-
The 9.0D wesco definitely fit narrower for me than the 9.0D Iron Ranger. Not a ton but noticable. They're also a bit lower volume which I think has more of an impact to width sensitive people. Sounds like you should go E on wesco, but Chris at wesco or the folks here and guys at the IH shop might have different advice.
-
That‘s helpful, thanks a lot! I‘ll drop an e-mail at the IH-crew and the guys at Wesco and hope that there will soon be a restock.
Thanks again man, I really appreciate your advice!

I’m a 9.5D by the Brannock, a D width in most shoes, and have two pair of Mr. Lou’s in 9E that are a perfect fit and one pair of Wesco Boss in 9D that are still slightly tight after extensive break in. Would probably also go with a 9E in the Boss if ordering again.
-
Thank you very much @John-Galt and @Dmart ! I have to check my Brannock size (provided that I can find a device here in Switzerland) but it seems like a 7.5E is the way to go for me.
-
@AtariHunter where are you in Switzerland? I live in Lucerne. I measured my brannock with an online print form but had it confirmed at a shop.

What a coincidence! I live in Bern (lucky me, there is a shop – called Feinfracht – with IH products, or should I rather say „poor me!“?). Good point, I will look for an online print, thanks for the hint!
