Actually having an Ironheart?
-
Bit of an odd (confessional) post here, but it amused me when I really shouldn't be amused. I didn’t know it was a thing until recently but I just got diagnosed with something called Hemochromatosis, basically a genetic condition which results in having excessive Iron in my blood/body. Can be dangerous and is a bit of a silent killer, but if caught early - as it has for me - then its not a problem and the symptoms apparently go away with treatment.
The symptoms are very non-specific and the sort of thing which is easily dismissed by GP’s. A man in his late 30’s / early 40’s complaining of being tired and having achy joints, when he has a young family and hard job doesn’t illicit much in the way of sympathy from anyone especially the medical profession. Took a long time to find.
I had my first treatment on thursday (I need to give blood very regularly to get rid of the iron) - of course I had to wear my 21oz 888’s
for the occasion.
Amused me that I now have even more affinity for the brand as I now in actuality have an “iron (filled) heart”. I’m hoping the black 888’s are back in stock soon as I think I may have to treat myself to a pair when I finish the initial treatment.

This is not my field of expertise, but to my knowledge the prognosis is really good once it's diagnosed. Interestingly, this is one of very few indications where blood-letting, which was very popular in 19th century medicine, has actually found a place in modern, scientific medicine. I remember having to do this with a HC patient when I was a young medical student (which was not in the 19th century), quite a 'bloody' issue.
Good it's been diagnosed and can be treated now, and all the best @haydi and truely an 'iron heart'!

Best wishes to you and your genuine Iron Heart, bru!

Damn!! Glad you caught this early and will be able to live a happy healthy life. Not sure how regularly you need to give blood, but if that regularity coincides with a follow up Iron Heart denim purchase then you may be in for some iron heart armor for your iron heart!! In which case you will be damn near invincible for that young family of yours!!

@haydj I wish you all best of health.
IH wear is of course the appropo clothing of choice!

@Mizmazzle I have to give blood weekly, so I weekly purchase will be great for IH HQ, but less good for my bank manager. !
Thanks to all the other messages too.
