Hard Drinkers, Lets Drink Hard (Spirits, Liquors and Cocktails)

negroni @pechelman local gin : amaro ferro china baliva : antica formula + lime
-
Picked up a bottle today from my local honey hole that I’ve been on a waiting list for about a year for: Weller special reserve. Ridiculous how hard this has been to find around here.
-
@natehate dude all the BT distillery regulars are on allocations now and my state doesn’t get shit. Thankfully they’re spending billions to increase production so we can get our fix of the good stuff like back in the day when you could find eagle rare and Blanton’s on the shelf collecting dust.
-
@WhiskeySandwich we had both that Wellers and 106 here recently but I passed on both of them
maybe next year when they come back in stock
at the start of the bourbon boom buffalo trace built a bunch of new storage, so that stuff should all be coming to age soon.
I've been trying to talk a friend that doesn't really drink into going to buffalo with me and staying over night so I can bring two bottles back into Canada instead of one.
I'd like to get my hands on some more Redwood empire and some High West whiskey's -
@natehate sweet dude, hope it works out! I like some high west campfire. Their rendezvous rye is fantastic too but hard to get and hangover city. Good in small portions tho

I recently saw an interview with Julian Van Winkle, where he talked about the increased production,And he how he has no control over how much retailers sell it for. So while there might be more bourbon available, I wouldn’t expect the prices to come down any time soon. In the mean time, there’s plenty of really good bourbon out there for less than $50. Cask Strength Makers,Woodford Double Oaked,Blade and Bow,and the Four Roses single barrels to name a few.

@Jett129 "luckily" for me being in Ontario all our liquor is sold by the government so we don't get inflated price
but we also only get one drop a year of the things we do get
so it's a different kind of battle for us here
and yeah those are some good bourbons that are readily available
most of wild turkeys stuff is really good for the price
oh and regular buffalo trace we have cases upon cases of it at every lcbo in the province (lcbo is the name of the government liquor store)
I laugh when I see bourbon hunting videos and they talk about regular old buffalo trace getting hard to find and i could go get 20+ bottles at any one store -
Yeah the wild turkey is a good go-to. It used to be Buffalo Trace was everywhere then it just dried up, took some looking, but there’s plenty other stuff out there.

Had some grapefruit and cocchi in the fridge that needed to be used and tried a new drink called the necromancer from Lost lake in Chicago (rip). The balance on this drink is totally off imo. Needs a bit more acidity to balance out all the sweetness for my taste. Would likely try it again but maybe by acid adjusting the grapefruit to lime juice or adding ~.25oz of lime. The straight Agricole is also a bit in your face on this one. I'd spilt it with a nice 3-4 year column still instead. Either way, happy Friday y'all!

Found this hidden behind a Fortaleza Blanco bottle in an Aspen liquor store. Fortaleza is hard to find around here much less the still strength, my favorite one. Super lucky grab.
-
@mclaincausey I’m pretty sure that Fortaleza is pretty hard to find almost everywhere, especially the Still Strength, which at this point I would have to say is the best blanco I’ve ever tasted. Great score!
-
@mclaincausey A liquor store in NYC has this rare Still Strength Single Barrel Reposado by Fortaleza. It’s going to be 15% off on 7-26,which is still pretty expensive for me. Wish I knew someone who would/could split it with me. The price isn’t showing. It’s $250
